Wireless? That can happen if your keys get goofy.
It's not the network, cause i can use a different computer. And more maddening is that it shows the network is there, it just won't connect
Wireless? That can happen if your keys get goofy.
yeah its wireless, but how do i fix it.
try one of the following procedures..
Have you tried switchin off the adsl modem for 10secs then turnin it back on?
look at the properties in the failed comp, is the dns settings correct?
on the failed comp, type in the adsl modems IP?
try pingin the modems IP with the dos startup panel?
wireless configuration on the modem, did you type in the comps IP/MAC address thats aloud to access the wireless network?
if everything fails......take ur modem and throw it onto a wall
when in doubt reboot your router,
first shutdown the computer in question, then unplug modem and or router for 15-20 seconds, then when it reboots after 30 or so seconds boot up the other computer it may have to assign it a new ip address.
It depends on what kind of problem you are actually having.
1) It sounds like you are able to SEE the wireless network in question. Are you able to connect/join it successfully, or does joining the network actually fail? If so, where does it fail?
2) If you are able to connect, do you know how to check and what IP address you're getting through the wireless connection? Also, what is the message that IE/Firefox displays when it fails to connect to a page?
3) If you are unable to connect, have you tried to change the channel on the router? Have you considered possible sources of interference, such as 2.4Ghz phones, baby monitors, and microwave ovens in the area?
4) Have you tried powercycling the modem AND router (by unplugging them from power for 5-10 seconds, then plugging them back in)?
5) Are you able to test the failing unit on another wireless network to make sure the wireless card is still functioning properly?

Train.....
ANSWER TEH GEEKZ
Trainwreck. It is your modem or did your ISP furnish it? If your ISP furnished it,
give the support people a call. My wireless router is furnished by AT&T.
I went to sleep, and when i woke up it was working.
So rebooting worked!
That was gonna be my next suggestion.![]()
I always suggest the drop test, but the reboot and pray method is very useful on Windows computers.
you need to tell people what os you are running
