Rough translation :
Tony, you coice is taken, you will play qualifications for the Euro 2009…
Yes, I will join the group today. I always wanted to play for French NT but with NBA games and summer games with the NT, I really needed some rest. I needed that rest, I couldn't continue at that rhythm. Spurs thought that I played too much games and they have asked me to take a break this summer. But deep inside of me, I said to myself that there still have a hope to play. I haven't definitively ruled off qualifications for the Euro.
Have Spurs understood your wish to play with the NT ?
Completely, Gregg Popovich wasn't against it. I've rested since May 29th and our loss against Lakers. I haven't played a game for two months and a half. One can think that I'm out of rythm but I've practiced for one month. I have worked every day with Chip Engelland in Los Angeles. Spurs have given to me a program for this summer that I've strictly followed. It was bodybuilding and outside shooting. So I don't have a concern about my current shape.
When did you take your decision?
In fact, Olympic Games have been a big factor. To look at the Olympic Games in front of my TV wasn't easy to live. I wanted to be there, I wanted to represent my country. It hurts me a little to see all these French athletes wearing French colors and don't be with them. The only thing, that I can do, was to join the team as fast as possible to play September's qualifications. I love too much French NT, I can't stay in the US. I spoke about that with Boris (Diaw). He would have also come but he can't because of insurance troubles.
A thing is sure, you do not come as a the savior of French NT...
Not, I don't come with that idea in mind. I come because it's my duty to be with my teammates. We still have good things to do and we will do them together.

Mother er!!!
Argggggg
WTF? I thought he said he wasn't.
Gregg Popovich wasn't against it
pop is ok with it I am
if pop was against it I am against it
And for the context :
French NT has been a disaster this summer. Tons of players have turned it down for various reasons. The result was that the team sucked and lost friendly games against crappy teams like Finland or Poland. If the team has bad results in these qualifications, it will mean that French NT won't play high level games until 2011. Even if he doesn't want to say that, Parker comes as the savior for a team that badly needed it.
The schedule is 3 friendly games and 6 qualifications. The last game in on September 20th.
So he has to carry a team of scrubs?
Damn, the summer somehow gets worse by the day.
two faces are hard to hide, huh ducks?
Sounds like he got a good rest and he's been getting in solid practice.Completely, Gregg Popovich wasn't against it. I've rested since May 29th and our loss against Lakers. Here's hoping all the players stay healthy this summerwhether they are playing on their national teams, in the practice facility or in their backyards.
no pop knows best
pop is ok
pop has told him he wanted to have spur doctors look at him
he obeyed
unlike manu
oh and tp is healthy unlike manu
ing christ.....
About time to shake off the rust
One can think that I'm out of rythm but I've practiced for one month. I have worked every day with Chip Engelland in Los Angeles. Spurs have given to me a program for this summer that I've strictly followed. It was bodybuilding and outside shooting
wonder if he worked on the three oh just 18 foot jump shots
Other players like Turiaf and Diawara have been added to the team since these losses.
Right now, it's a decent team with Parker, Turiaf, Diawara, Tariq Kirksay and Nando De Colo.
The bench is weak because French basketball really lake of depth.
Stupid move, guess he will have to be limited to 30 min pr game this season too! Hope hill pans out
he has proven he can play more then that
unlike manu
he also has been resting
he has not played a game in for two months and a half
whatever the that meant... I agree with it!
Tony is young... he hasnt done in months.... I really dont see what the big deal is, I mean look at what Manu is doing.
Mahinmi turned down french NT this summer.
His priority right now is to get playing time in NBA and he is staying in SA to practice and work on his game.
My problem is that he wears down in the playoffs and is getting older. He has been playing pro since he was 17 and you only have so many mins in those legs.
My concern is him losing his lift and quickness in the playoffs and long term because he has played so many mins over the years pulling a Michael Finley where he goes from a great player to average over night.
agree
but pop has given him the ok
and he has not played a single game for 2 and a half months
Hope your right and hope to hill gives us enough to rest parker this year.
Smart player.
I wish Parker would do the same.
He is still very young, so maybe it will not effect him that much...
Like last year when his foot injury lingered all season till he sat out over a month?
