I am pretty sure that the Spurs hope he doesn't. However, I will go out on a limb and say he will play. While it may not be the smartest move, I have a lot of respect for a guy that cares that much about his country.

He will if he's less intelligent than I give him credit for. I think he'll sit out.

If he can walk, he will play and that it will be his last game for Argentina NT.
Ending his international career with a win and a medal would be great for him.

If he plays and they still lose, would it have been smart?
If he plays and they win, does the Bronze medal gain enough national pride to merit the risk?

If he doesn't play and they win, it's all good.
If he doesn't play and they lose, where is the shame?

I guess it depends on how bad the ankle is. When is the game?

And can the team win against Lithuania w/o Manu's services? If so, then I think he shouldn't risk it. But it's his last game with the NT so his desire to go fighting may overcome the pain of his injury.

I think he will, mostly to prove that his injury won't be in vain and that his risk was worth it.

    Manu's done for the Olympics

    http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/s...-ginobili.html

Beijing - Argentine basketball star Emanuel Ginobili is injured and will miss Sunday's game for Olympic bronze against Lithuania, Argentine team doctor Diego Grippo confirmed Friday. "There is no chance that 'Manu' will recover. He will not play against Lithuania," Grippo said.

A recurring injury to his left ankle forced Ginobili to remain on the bench for most of Friday's semi-final, which saw defending champion Argentina lose to the United States, 101-81.

"Ginobili is in a lot of pain, he is very sad," Argentine coach Sergio Hernandez said.

The San Antonio Spurs shooting guard was on court for just 6 minutes and 21 seconds in the semi-final and scored 2 points before withdrawing at half-time.

Andres Nocioni may also miss the game against Lithuania.

"He has tendinitis in his left knee. We will see if he recovers," said Grippo.

Good. Now, is the ankle really a "time bomb" long-term, Dr. Grippo?

My friend said that they had an interview with Manu on Telemundo and he said he'd be out for the game and he'll probably be out for training camp and preseason. Also, said something about surgery or having a surgeon look at the ankle but he said they were talking too fast in spainish for him to hear everything.
