The number of Americans who believe the country is moving in the wrong direction has risen sharply, to nearly eight in ten, amid soaring food and gas prices, falling home values and unending war. Just 17 percent say the country is going in the right direction, according to an AP-Ipsos poll.
I always wondered who those 17% were...never met one until now.

For people who about wanting specifics so much, they have nothing to say when asked point blank things like how much an Obama tax plan will cost them or how much unlimited drilling in the US would lower gas prices.

Umm...so if your single, make $200K, and have no dependents then Obama is going to give you a $3000 tax cut. Are we really supposed to believe that lie? Do you actually believe that?

I remember Bill Clinton said he would only raise taxes on the top 2%.

Single, no children, net income $500K and it says Obama "probably" won't give you a tax cut. That's funny !

Fits into Neil Boortz's theory of democratic supremacy. Get 50 percent plus 1 of the people not to pay taxes and have them on your side to vote to seize the money from other 49 percent. It is stealing by majority vote.

If by "stealing" you mean people will pay the same tax rate they paid under the Clinton administration, then yeah I guess you're right.

Well let Boortz speak for himself:

"Then there's Obama's line about the Republicans and McCain not proposing one penny of tax relief for over 100 million Americans. Sounds good. But if you're educated; if you know the statistics; if you pay attention you will know that the bottom 50% of income earners in this country pay only about 3% of all individual income taxes collected by the federal government. When you get to the bottom 40% that percentage figures drops to zero. Now just what is our current population figure? Around 300 million or so? That would bean that about 120 million Americans have no federal income tax liability at all. Yet there's Obama saying that McCain is offering no tax relief to these people. Relief from what?

There was another line in Obama's speech that is very typical of far-left politicians. Obama seems to feel those with higher incomes in this country have not earned their way. Whatever the wealthy have was given to them, not earned. So Obama tells the adoring crowd that Republicans want to "Give more and more to those with the most, and hope that prosperity will trickle down to the rest." As I said, this is a standard Democrat theme. Wealthy people didn't earn what they have, it was given to them. And since it was given to them, there's nothing really all that wrong with taking more and more of it away from them ... just to even things out a bit. Remember, please, that Obama flat-out said that he wants to raise taxes on the rich not to bring in increased government revenues, but to make things more "fair." "

Assuming 83% say we are going the wrong direction, count me as one of them That doesn't bean I think we need it to turn left. I think we've been taking left turns too long, and need to CHANGE to the right for once!

Well, I'm absolutely certain that under Obama, I will see a tax increase out of my paycheck, and I'm not in that 5% he claims otherwise. I simply now pay at the single rate with no dependants.

So, Boortz is including children and such in his assessment of those who have no tax liability? It's really awesome to scare up fear for your taxation arguments by claiming that 120,000,000 aren't paying much in taxes; but it's disingenuous to take a concern about the extent to which low wage earners contribute to the federal coffers, apply figures that are clearly apples and oranges, and use the result to cement that fear.

I have only heard talk, no specific plan by Obama. Where are the details, plus it must get past congress. He's not going to be a dictator, at least not yet.

Now for oil prices, any notable increase in world supply will decrease the prices. ANWR and the outer contental shelves are each notable. They will decrease prices far more than the democrats wanting to use the stratigic reserves.

We know that if we maintain a democrat congress after the November elections that the federal marginal tax rates most families make all go up by an additional 3%. The 25% goes to 28% and the 28% goes to 31%. Compared on the 2008 tax tables, the following will happen for a family of 4:

Income___________Now_______After the Bush Tax Cuts expire

I've been saying that for years. It's the reason there are so many demonrats getting elected who promise more freebies.

It's hard to say. My bet is I will end up paying at least another $2,000 a year.
