PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) - A suspected U.S. missile attack by drone aircraft on Wednesday hit a village in the Pakistani tribal region of South Waziristan where a militant camp was located, Pakistani intelligence officials said.

The missiles targeted Baghar, a village in the mountains 55 km west of Wana, the main town in the region, they said. Baghar is close to Angor Adda, the border village that was raided by U.S. commandos on September 3, and where another helicopter-borne raid was aborted on Monday after Pakistani troops and villagers opened fire.

A Pakistani military spokesman confirmed there had been explosions in the area, but could not confirm the cause.

Bombing FATAs now shows that Repugs value winning elections more than they "put America's security first".

Attacking the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Pakistan is something the US should have been doing for a long time now. It may be that they intermix too well with the civilians so too many civilians are killed (note these civilians are supporting the Taliban and al-Qaeda), and the US won't make any headway, but letting them have free rein in Pakistan isn't a winning strategy either.

BushCo is taking advantage of their lame-duck and disreputable status as a kind of cover for this. BushCo can lie about not doing it, the Pakistan government can cry foul (but may be secretly cheering these attacks), and the next administration can continue this game or pretend to sooth things over depending on the situation.
