300 Retired Generals And Admirals Endorse John McCain For President
ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that 300 retired generals and admirals from around the country are endorsing John McCain for president. The retired generals and admirals announced their support with the following letter:
"We have had the honor and privilege of serving as career officers in the United States Armed Forces, and of serving shoulder to shoulder with so many of the fine young men and women who are the backbone of America's Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. It is that experience that informs our judgment that John McCain is the presidential candidate best suited to serve as America's Commander-in Chief from the day of his inauguration.
"Our next president will confront national security challenges as significant as those faced by any administration in at least a generation. Success will require a leader with proven tenacity, judgment and courage. It will also require a leader with detailed knowledge of our military and other instruments of national power, and with years of experience dealing seriously with foreign leaders.
"John McCain's entire life has been devoted to the service of America. Throughout a long and distinguished career in the military and in Congress, he has repeatedly displayed the courage and integrity to place America's interests first -- regardless of personal cost. And he has demonstrated the experience and wisdom to lead America -- and, importantly, our allies -- in effectively dealing with complex and vitally important national security challenges around the world.
"We unequivocally endorse him to continue his service to the country as the next President of the United States."

To be fair...millions of Russians voted for Obama as President of the US in a recent poll.
my guess is they weren't impressed with Obama's take on Iraq and Afghanistan.
I think they were a bit more than unimpressed...more like petrified this Bozo could ever have the reins of the United States Military.
I thought the generals from 300 died
Don't see Franks, Batiste, Eaton, or Swannack on that list.. people who actually commanded in Iraq.

Damn, whottt is genuinely upset about last night's debate and his hothouse flower.
The more he thinks McCain is going to lose, the more Yoni-esque threads he starts.
Impressive.

In other news AFL-CIO endorses Obama.
A very good example. Thanks.
How may votes do retired generals get?
Don't with the mighty 300!!!!
I am going to go back and find whott's take on the hundreds of generals who backed kerry in 2004. I'm sure he posted something about that because we know he's ogbjective and gives dems credit for the same things that the repukes do.![]()
Depends on how well-respected they are. Many of them commanded quite a few soldiers (voters) in their day. Could be their opinion makes a difference to quite a few of them.
All the Euros love Obama --But do they vote absentee? They must count since the Democrats love them.
Interestingly enough, this guy is running for the House seat in the district I live in. He's going up against what I believe to be one of only two House Democrats in the state of Georgia.
In answer to your question, any endorsement Kerry got by military leaders probably carried no weight with me, because I didn't like Kerry. And I didn't want us to cut and run in Iraq.
That's pretty hypocritical...and my name is hypocriteafarian!!!
Um I doubt this list is true...does anyone really think Brigadier General Wes Clark, USAF (Ret.) is endorsing McCain? Well....he's on the list

The War Cannibal Animal endorses McCain? I'm shocked.
Seeing as how the Wesley Clark that you know was a four-star general, I think this completely different guy might just be for McCain.
Oh, and it should also be noted that Wes Clark was in the Army...not USAF.
One final FYI...Brigadier General is a one-star.
Um, I am thinking it is.
The General Wesley Clark you are thinking of was a 4 star general in the Army.
Speaking of the Wesley Clark...don't be surprised if he stops supporting Obama as enthusiastically as he did prior to Biden being named the VP.
He's not really loyal to either party...I think his biggest issue with the Iraq War is that he wasn't in charge of it.
Link? Or should we just take your word for it?
