Buzz up! Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott is in the national spotlight as a result of what he said at a today for vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's rally at Germain Arena in Estero.

Scott was one of several people who spoke before Palin was scheduled to speak in front of a standing room only crowd. The arena seats just over 7,000 people. It was estimated there were at least 2,000 over that number inside.

When Scott took the stage he declared the world had three types of people, "the ones who make things happen, the ones who watch what happens and the ones who wonder what happened. Let's leave Barack Hussein Obama wondering what happened."

The arena, about three-quarters full now, burst into screams and applause.

Scott's use of Obama's middle name has caused a stir.

Palin campaign spokesperson Tracey Schmitt issued the following statement on Sherriff Scott’s remarks:

“We do not condone this inappropriate rhetoric which distracts from the real questions of judgment, character, and experience that voters will base their decisions on this November.”
