Pavlick KO 6th round.
Your pick?
KO...pick the round!
-Pavlik by KO
-Pavlik by decision
-Hopkins by KO
-Hopkins by decision
Pavlick KO 6th round.
I got Pavlik KO 10 after a brutal, methodical dismantling. Hopkins is tough, but he's gonna take alot of big rights that most men can't take. Credit to B-Hop, he's going to take them better than most but not for many rounds...
Pavlik decision. Hopkins is a survivor.
That's a pretty smart bet if you're doing so.
Hopkins by decision, the fight won't even be close.
Yup, but I haven't yet...EVER given boxers like Hopkins credit. From the school of Lennox Lewis, Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather-I could go on forever. These guys aren't FIGHTERS, they're boxers. There's a difference. Someone who does nothing to engage the other fighter into annn ummmmmm, F-I-G-H-T?!?!!? The great ones have had great fights. Hopkins just lost.
Pavlik chased the dude around the ring while Hopkins was well...HOPKINS.![]()
Kelly's career is over. He'll never live that beating down. Bernard is a good 6 years past his prime and he kicked Kelly's ass.
no need to nut in here. go back to your orgy, hairy asses await you.
WOW
What an epic ing fail at an insult
Perhaps what i said was strong but the fact is he got it handed to him by a guy who's last prime fight was probably when he beat Trinidad. I thought he'd win but looking back taking this fight at 170 was a huge mistake. He looked less dominant against Taylor in the rematch and this was at a even heavier weight than that. Kelly's prime weight is 160 pds. This is a loss that will forever stain Kelly's career. Now would you like to talk boxing or come up with another lame ing comment??

Kelly will be fine if he stays at 160. Sometimes moving up in weight really has an effect on a fighters power and energy levels. He looked lethargic the whole damn fight. I'd say he is far from washed up, he stepped up in weight for a big payday, and most people probably would have. It's his first loss, many great fighters have 5 or 6 losses and the dude is only 26th, plenty of fights left in him.
I agree with most of that but the trouble is he took this fight really because there are not many sexy fights out there at 160. The middleweight division is filled with a bunch of good fighters that nobody has ever heard of. He has proven in his rematch with Taylor at 166 and now this fight with Hopkins at 170 that he is not the same guy as he is at 160. 160 is where he is the dominant force. So if moving up is not good for his skill level and he is to big to move down, combined with no sexy fights at 160, he is in a very tough spot. Losing to Hopkins at 43 years of age is just something he won't be living down. B-Hop is maybe 60% of the fighter he was at his best. That was a must win fight for him and he lost it badly.
You have to give Hopkins some credit albeit he is well past his prime, he was obviously in great shaped and highly motivated for this fight.
I give B-Hop tons of credit, just saying Kelly is in a lousy spot now. He moved up because there were no big fights at 160. Now he lost badly to Hopkins at 170, showed he can't fight at an elite level at that weight and guess what, there are still no big fights for him at 160. A bad loss in a Superfight is really only erased with a huge win in another Superfight. There is no such fight out there for Kelly right now. People were talking about him being the next great MiddleWeight of all time. Going up 10 pds and losing to B-Hop who was one of the best MiddleWeights of all time, many years past his prime is just terrible for Kelly's legacy. It would be like Lennox Lewis, losing to a punch drunk 38 year old Muhammad Ali. Even though the loss is highly controversial, Hagler's loss to Sugar Ray greatly stains his legacy.

I saw they are replaying it next week on HBO for those that missed the fight (like me). I downloaded it though, so I will catch it before then...
Damn I didn't think it was going to be worth ordering. From what I've read B-Hop put a clinic on Kelly. Well Pavlik is still young and Hopkins is aging very well. There are still plenty of fights for Pavlik out there his next fight should be a tune up type before he gets in with a Kessler, Calzaghe type guy.
Calzaghe fights at Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight. That is the trouble with Kelly. He is not great unless he is at 160.
! Why did I read this thread?! I missed the fight but was going to watch it next weekend. I am f'n shocked. I though KP was going to knock B-Hop out.
So did i. He could not have looked worse.
I watched the HBO replay...Pavlik looked so doughey and out of shape. He was walking in cement, Hopkins was pot shoting him the whole time. I was really hoping Pavlik would have done well to set up a mega fight with Calzaghe...now it looks like he will go back to 160 and maybe fight Jeff Lacy if he can get by Jermaine Taylor. If not, then I hope he works out a deal to fight Arthur Abraham.
Watching the replay this weekend i thought he lost the fight 11 rds to 1. It was just an embrassing beating.
Even his trainer and cut-man had given up on him by RD 9. His Cut-man said to him "You are not losing the championship, just losing a fight" When a boxer is talking so much back to his trainer that is a bad sign that he is confused and looking for answers in there. And Kelly was talking to his trainer so much from really round 5 on...

It seemed like Pavlik's corner was more concerned with making sure he punched Hopkins in the balls than any kind of solid game plan...
Are you kidding or is that a serious comment?? Cause i didn't hear that. They just kept telling Kelly to pressure Bernard but Hopkins gives so many angles, it is damn near impossible to cut the ring off on him. I thought Kelly could do more in the middle of the ring. He did nothing no matter where the fight took place.
This was a crazy fight and end result for me. It showed me Taylor needed to maintain his jab speed and quickness before he fought Kelly because after the duel with Hopkins he just got stronger and tried to rely on power therefor losing his belt. Had Taylor not changed managers and workouts/weight training he'd still be the champ now I think. He needs to bring back the mentality of "my opponent will have to change something when he fights me" instead of "me having to change something so I can beat this guy" now.
Kelly looked bad. Not the same guy that fought JT perhaps. Hopkins looked like the same guy he's been for a long time.
