Jeff McDonald: No Hill, but Stoudamire could play

Salim Stoudamire, who is having to deal with a strained groin in his fight to make the Spurs' roster, participated fully in Wednesday morning's shootaround and could play in tonight's preseason game against Washington, according to the team's medical staff.

Rookie point guard George Hill, who is battling a sprained thumb on his left (non-shooting) hand, also went through practice Wednesday, but will be held out of the game for precautionary reasons.

Hill is expected to return for Friday's preseason finale against Miami.

Salim doesn't really have a choice. He only has two games left to prove his worth. But how effective will he be still dealing with the injury? It is doubtful he is 100%. TBQH...I don't think it will matter.

As far as the game being televised I saw it on my guide yesterday. I think it is channel 562 for Dish...but it could be one above or below.

I hope Salim is able to give a good showing. I don't want to pass on a potentially helpful player b/c injury prevented us from getting a good look. But I also don't want to sign a guy that just doesn't fit and pass on Hairston/Farmer/Watkins as a result.

I think this is a good sign for people hoping to have Salim on the Spurs(ME). I think if the spurs had decided that his injuries were a "tough luck, try again next year" kinda situation they would have told him to just rest so he'll be healthy enough to let another team sign him. Instead they're letting him try and prove himself, especially his mental and physical toughness which, according to a recent George Hill article, is something Pop values highly. Go Salim! Show em you belong!

I'll take both...

Tolliver is all but a lock. Pop has basically said it without saying it. He has not shot well but has shown a lot of potential in other areas and already looks to be a smarter player than Bonner IMO. I think he has a good all round skill set. In the game against the Pacers he had 3 steals and 8 boards (4 offensive) in 20 min. We need a player that can do things like this. He will likely shoot less as he get himself acclimated to the system and will become a good hustling forward in the Carl Landry mold.

Check your League Pass channels...its should be on one of them. If you don't know where they are then call Time Warner and ask.

I'd prefer Hairston stays as well.

As I said on gamenight, Hairston Is Bonzi Wells but with the head screwed on right.

We shall see what happens but I think Tolliver is a lock, and in the Spurs's opinion, hes the "Derrick McKey" player.
