Islamic group calls on NMGOP to repudiate remarks made by Marcia Stirman

Marcia Stirman, a 56-year-old interior decorator, also called Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama ''a Muslim socialist.''
A national Islamic group expressed outrage over Stirman's letter and called on state and national Republican Party officials to repudiate the publication of ''anti-Muslim comments.''
''Because these hate-filled remarks were made by a prominent Republican, it is in bent on state and national GOP officials to repudiate her divisive and intolerant views,'' said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Officials with the Republican Party of New Mexico had no immediate comment.
The letter ran Tuesday in the Alamogordo Daily News. It was led ''Why I'm a Republican'' and listed 16 reasons for her party affiliation.
The list ends with Stirman saying Obama is ''a Muslim socialist.'' She also wrote, ''I believe war is a fact of life and we should always win.''

she said included support from all over the country. She wrote it after the newspaper recently published another reader's letter led ''Why I'm a Democrat.''
Asked for a response to Awad's concerns, she said of Muslims: ''I don't trust them at all. They've sworn across the world that they are our enemies. Why we're trying to elect one is beside me.''
Obama's Kenyan father was Muslim, but Obama grew up in a Christian family. Although he has professed his Christianity repeatedly and explained how his Christian faith shapes his politics, he has battled Internet-fueled rumors throughout the campaign that he is Muslim.
Stirman said she carefully considered what she wrote in the letter, refused to apologize and defended her right to express her views.
''I still have freedom of speech and an opinion. If the Islamic group doesn't like it, well, I don't like what's going on in their camp, either,'' Stirman said.

BTW, can anybody explain to me how one can be both a Marxist AND a Muslim? How does that work? Didn't they fight a vicious war against each other in Afghanistan?

Can you explain to me how he gets called a muslim and and gets attacked for having a psycho preacher? Its like a giant maze, the republicans have really just flushed their down the toilet, i mean some of the propaganda they are trying to spin just makes you wonder.
This election has to be a complete disaster for the Republicans if something good is going to emerge from the ashes. They need to go down in flames and embarrassment and have the party torn and ripped to shreds. Intellectual debate needs to happen, Republicans need to question their leadership, it can't be blind faith following in lock-step with the GOP.
The mindless talk-radio hate, dittohead, faux news, hearst/cox/murdock news medias are so far to the right its taking the republicans over the edge. It's funny to heard them about the left-wing media when its their own extensive media coalitions that are killing them. Any moderate repub (like McCain actually is) has to kow-tow to the extremists of the party (like by choosing Palin) because the extremists control the noise machine. The extreme right agenda of neo-cons and wacky Christians has become toxic in the post-Bush era (and this is that time, he warming a seat right now). I think it will be a full generation, 20 years, before moderate conservatives regain control of the repub party.
