    Portis > Barber

this season: portis > the field. he's the first half MVP, and it's not particularly close.

it's interesting how he's remade himself as a back. when he first entered the league, he was a speedy cutback runner with a propensity to fumble. now, he is a very reliable power back that runs through arm tackles.

on a side note, there are a lot charger fans that feel more of LT's carries should be going to Sproles. he's certainly the most dynamic player in their backfield this season.

The Skins are going to need a good second half of the year from Portis, too, so yeah Alexander and Bettis need to step it up. Right now they have to play nearly perfect ball to win close games. The good news is that hopefully these games are toughening them mentally. The bad news is they have almost no margin for error.
