No candy at our place this year, either. There'd be enough time after we bring our kids back, but I just can't stomach the idea of handing out candy to teenagers too damn rude to get off their cell phones even to say "trick or treat" two years in a row.
They finished a lot of houses in our neighborhood in the past year and I've seen a lot more kids out and about ... so we bought a ton.
And they are mostly young ones ... I haven't seen too many teenagers but for the one I own.

I miss the days when people really participated in Halloween. It seems like these years, you are lucky to have one out of five houses decorated, and you see but a handful of kids running around.
Maybe it just seemed more exaggerated when I was seven, but it seemed like the streets used to be nothing but a toddling candy pandemonium on Halloween night.
At least every other house on my street & a lot in the neighborhood have decorated for Halloween ... it's awesome.
Our street throws a block party for most major holidays, including Halloween. Good stuff.

Next to it you can put a empty bowl with a sign that says spread the wealth, hook my broke ass up with some candy.
My son doesn't want to trick or treat anymore, and my daughter is on the borderline of thinking it's baby-ish and wanting all the candy! I'm not sure if we'll hand out candy this year yet. Maybe we'll just go to Wurstfest.

Instead of giving, I'm going to take a little bit of candy from everyone so when the kids with a little bit of candy come to the door I can give them extra.Political forum.
That sounds like a good idea. But I'm only going to take from the kids who have more than 100 pieces of candy and give some to those who have less.
We our staying home all Halloween night just to give out candy to the kids. We have a 5 year old and have gone to family and friends houses for the holiday since she was born. We end up home around 8-9 and only a few straglers come to our house trick or treating at that hour.
If you don't want to give out candy, but also don't want to have all your lights out and kids thinking you're a jerk-here's an easy solution:
Leave the front light on, put out some basic decorations, and then have a big bowl out there at the front door with a sign that says take 1-2 pieces of candy only, happy Halloween!
Just make sure to remove all candy from the bowl before you put it out there, that way when kids come up to the door they'll look and mainly be disappointed that some other kids emptied the bowl. Problem solved.
I think I'll just give all of my candy to my neighbor and let them decide how to hand it out.
