no, he is good at defense.
you just probably close your eyes.
Roger mason 6-7 fg, 2-2 3fg, 4 ast, 1 to.
Nice stats and the guy can create his own shot.
As for Kurt Thomas, he is horrible. He fouls every time he guards someone and even with Tim getting double team on the box outs he still can't get rebounds against guards, it killed us.

I really feel bad for Mason. He came to this team in a sucky year. but he's great.
Tim and Tony need help. i hate that they're working their asses off and losing.
i cant believe that i cant trust Bowen or KT when i felt they were the only contributors last year.
Finley is better than last year. although him missing the last shot pissed me off.
kurt thomas is solid in his role. come on.. the spurs need another big and i'm not convinced oberto is all that solid... i want to see ian play in the nba.
Thomas was -11 tonight and in 2 games he's by far the worst Spurs player.
I hope he's out of shape because if he's not we'll pay $4 mi for a guy sit on the bench because we can't win with Thomas playing like this.
Mason is good. He needs to get more minutes
Kurt thomas is the only big with a little bit of the "robert horry factor"
He does little things on defense that save the Spurs ass a lot of times.
Gotta remember the guy missed about 90% of training camp.
That's my hope because he's moving slower than Finley on D
yes, remember that, y'all naysayers!
Portland is a fast team. alot of the spurs looked slow.
i think parker could've gone for 50 tonight and a win but vaughn has to play... what a in joke.
If oberto was healtthy Thomas wouldn't have played that much just due to it being a bad matchup.
Yeah, but I don't ever remember him being a good defender on anyone who was fast or athletic which is what the NBA is these days except for Shaq, Duncan and a few others.
what spurs team you watching?
thomas is a good defender.
Last playoffs he was good. The first two games he played as much D as Finley
I've seen him guard dwight Howard last year preety preety preety good.
This Spurs team. Portland doesn't even keep this a close game if we didn't do some things wrong and that's just one of the things that stuck out to me. I also noticed it when he gave up some three point plays on lazy defense against Amare in the PHX game.
We saw this same movie in the WCF versus the Fakers. No one should be surprised.
And yes Thomas has looked awful. I don't know if he's in a slump or he's just gotten old fast. His baseline jumper was always money when playing against us. Now that he's on our side, he can't seem to hit the broad side of a barn.
And he used to do such a solid job guarding TD in the post.
Now.......well......it's not pretty
Thomas is a horrible matchup against the Blazers. If Oberto were healthy, he'd have played 30+ minutes tonight.
That said, Thomas is certainly making the Spurs' investment look kinda shaky . . .
If a guy's going to hit a dozen fade away jumpers in a game with a hand in his face, does it really matter if the hand belongs to Duncan or Thomas? Nobody on the team demonstrated the smallest amount of success against him.
Blazers were just crazy hot in that 3rd quarter.
Mason was amazing. He needs more PT.
When is Mahinmi supposed to be ready?
Mt. Mutumbo is the short term answer.
Otherwise it's going to get pretty ugly waiting for Mahinmi to be ready after missing so much time.
It also sounds like Brad Miller might get jettisoned.
Not till mid-November.
And even then he may get deferred to the D League. His injury really screwed things up![]()
...and to think the Spurs ponied up a 1st round draft choice. I've always liked KT and thought how great it would've been to have gotten him 5 years ago. Now I can't believe my eyes. He's never been a workout wonder, but he really looks soft, doughy and terrible.
