This has to be the most ridiculous thing I've heard. To do nothing with him is about as irresponsible as it gets. What a ed up organization New York has.

The New York Knicks have no plans to do anything with Stephon Marbury, except pay him his $21.9 million salary and give him a great seat to watch all their games.

Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni and team president Donnie Walsh said that they will not waive, buy out or trade Marbury. They also will not let him play in games, unless there is an injury to their top three guards, Chris Duhon, Jamal Crawford or Nate Robinson.

Looking back at the last two years, I kind of liked Larry Brown. I kind of liked Larry Brown. I'm like, 'Man, I wish this guy was here to drill me now.'
    -- Stephon Marbury

After Walsh met with both D'Antoni and Marbury on Monday, the Knicks announced Tuesday that they feel the issue is dead. Marbury will be inactive until further notice.

"It is resolved," D'Antoni told a larger than usual contingent of reporters after practice on Tuesday. "It is. Pretty soon that story is not going to be fun to read because it is going to be the same old story.

"You are going to be beating a dead horse," he said.

Marbury, 31, was the face of the Knicks under Isiah Thomas, but D'Antoni has been lukewarm, at best, toward Marbury since training camp. So why keep the former All-Star, who has been a distraction in the past, on the team?

"It is a lot of money," D'Antoni said. "He has a contract, rightly so. If somebody gets hurt, we might need him. Why not? Steph has been great. He is part of the team. We are trying to do what is best for the Knicks."

Walsh said the case is "closed" on the Marbury controversy. Walsh said that he leaves playing time decisions to his coaches and does not interfere. Still, why keep Marbury on the team if there are no plans to play him?

"He is a good player," Walsh said.

When the media were allowed into practice Tuesday, Marbury rode a stationary bike alongside the injured Eddy Curry. Marbury did not participate in the Knicks' drills but was involved in the team's post-practice huddle.

Marbury, who does not have an agent, will be a free agent at the end of the season.

"I don't know what the future holds," said Marbury, who has averaged nearly 20 points and eight assists per game for his career. "All I can do is sit still, be obedient and watch and learn from the situation."

Marbury has seen a lot of turmoil since he has been a Knick. Last season began in the wake of his sensational testimony in the Thomas sexual harassment civil suit.

Before that, Marbury feuded with Larry Brown. Brown returns to Madison Square Garden as the head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday.

"Looking back at the last two years, I kind of liked Larry Brown," Marbury said with a laugh. "I kind of liked Larry Brown. I'm like, 'Man, I wish this guy was here to drill me now.'"

In all fairness, Starbury did it to himself. It's hard to feel sorry for a talented asshole sitting on $20 million a year. He's the one that won't take a paycut to get a buyout.

He's the same guy who left the Timberwolves because he couldn't stand the fact that KG got a max contract and he didn't. Payback's a .

KG and Starbury could have made the 2000 era alot more interesting.

Well, Steph's sitting on KG like money now, hope it was worth it.

Aw, poor Marbury, who ran the team into the ground and then said "pay me my money if you want to release me". If he agrees to void his contract, I'm sure they'd be happy to let him go. Otherwise, kudos to the Knicks for telling him to go piss up a rope.

Asshole has a chance to play next to Timmy Dunks and go after a le. Esp while GNob is down, he could get some serious minutes.

Also don't want to miss a rare chance when Obstructed View and i share the same view.

D'Antoni has been an ass so far speaking up in the Media throwing Isiah under the bus. Publically arguing with a fan about Marbury and now telling the world that Marbury won't play. Could all have been handled quietly and diplomatically.

Nothing to be gained by having this guy around. At least with a buyout you might save some money. Pissing away millions to prove a point is plain stupid. Get him off your squad and be done with it. This organization seems to enjoy swimming around rock bottom status.

New management is throwing their weight around and letting everyone know who the new sheriffs in town are by publicly humiliating Starbury and Curry, two of Zeke's biggest bungled signings. They may waive him eventually but not before they make sure that every last person in that locker room knows exactly who is in charge.

Theres alot more to it then most san antonians know. We only have 1 paper compared to a wide range of papers and magazines new york has. Mike isnt dumb enough to walk into New York and stirr up things that have been stirred up just before he got there. Marbury brought it on himself. Just like Bill Lambier will only coach teams with girls when it comes to pros.

is he? all d'antoni has to do is to have a successful 1st season with the knicks to be "right". and judging by how the last season looked for new york, knicks and d'antoni won't have to do much. he just have to have his players play the game the fun way and make new york fans forget about last year. if he can manage that, marbury will quietly dissolve.

They won't save money with a buyout. He said he won't accept a buyout for less than the full amount of his contract. If you have to pay him the full amount, might as well have him as insurance on the bench.
