I don't believe it. JR Bremer could do it and he's rock-solid...but let's face it, Boykins shops in the children's section for clothes.

You guys really don't know. So what if he weighs 130. He does in fact lift 325lbs. That is true. It's on Sports Illustrated.

I've heard this before as well, but theres no way he can bench that much weight.

If Boykins could bench more than twice his weight, than that means he would have gigantic pecs bulding out his jersey.

It takes millions of reps to get to bench 325 lbs when you are 130...

Smaller guys can always lift more. I knew a guy 5'3" that could bench over 300 and he wasn't that big.

If you work out pretty regularly on a good program (which I'm sure Boykins does) 315 isn't much at all. 5'5 doesn't make a difference, the guy is solid. I think you guys are way overestimating how difficult and uncommon it is to bench over 300. And no, I'm not insinuating that I can do it.

Short guys can often bench a lot. They seem to have the build to add muscle to explode the weights and don't have to move it a far physically. Plus Boykin seems to have the ideal mix of fast twitch and slow twitch fibers that bring a combination of strength and speed. Plus he is a super compe ive guy and a winner and one of my favorite NBA players. I bet he can leg press 400 plus (perhaps even close to 500) the way he jumps so high and so explosively.

By the way, at 47 I lift 3x a week and at 511 and 210, I can only dream of getting to that level, stuck on 270 right now, and even years ago could never get much over 300. Have never used creatine or other suppliments, for some guys that seems to make all the difference.

I concur w/Al..I think too many people confuse bouncing the barbell with benching it. If you'd like to see a person bench have them stop/pause & explode the weight up OR have them bench dumbells & DON'T let the dumbell touch the chest.

The shorter limbs usually mean better leverage & ability to pack more muscle in a smaller area. If shorter people could bench more simply because they have a shorter range of motion then shouldn't taller people be the best runners since they'd cover more ground with less steps? No..Some of the world's best distance runners are from Kenya & average height. Even world class sprinters aren't much over 6' if they are at all. There are of course exceptions.

He should be able to do it easy. People assume someones only so strong by their height/weight but you'd be surprised how strong certain guys like boykins are.

I agree that short guys have an advantage, I know some about benching, I do it 4X a week...and I have met a guy who is as tall as Boykins who could bench 300+ , but this guy I'm talking about is huge muscle-wise. Boykins does have muscle definition, but he isn't that big.
If Boykins can bench that much, then he is way out of proportion...that means his biceps should be as big as ben wallace's. He should be curling 75 lbs....with each arm.

Benching is totally diffrent then curling. Benching is triceps and chest while curling is forearms and biceps.

EXACTLY MY POINT, what you think I'm re ed? No, I honostly thought that benching uses your legs and curling uses your toes....wow.

That's my point, read my post.

I said that Boykins is out of proportion, muscle-wise.
