I've got the feeling the Spurs are soon to waive Desmon Farmer in pursuit of another free agent. Has he played since Parker went down? Any word on his status?

Finley has been playing better so Pop will probably continue to give him minutes until he goes into a slump, which can always happen any game.

Also, I think it's a tradeoff to get Mason in the starting lineup, so Finley will come off the bench.

But during our drought last night it would have been good to see Farmer get time but Bowen was trying to cool down Jefferson and Finley was still hitting some shots.

    I wouldn't give up yet.

I'm not sure whats up with Farmer. He was playing pretty aggresive whenever he was in. However if he just sits at the very end of the bench keeping it warm with bonner wouldn't we be better off it being a developing player like Hairston?

    That would be my solution.

Seems like it, I just feel like the Spurs are going to waive him and try to acquire some else. Finley has been nice off the bench and Manu's return is soon coming which leaves Farmer out. With the Spurs needing help on the glass and Ian still being injured, it looks like something to watch over the next couple of weeks.

his defense is downright awful, that will earn you time on the bench as a bench warmer

They did not sign him for defense. The reason they signed him, to quote Pop "ball go in hole a lot". He might be waived to make room for Hairston, but not until Gino comes back. He is young and new, so it is not to surprising to see guys playing in front of him, especially when there is so many players that play his position (Fin, Mason and Ime).

i like his energy in and off the court. For the first time in a long time i see spurs players on the bench getting up and yelling during the game, and its mostly started by Farmer.

I like this guy and think he should stay the season.

He seems like no more than an extra body in case someone else goes down or gets in foul trouble. He will be inactive when Ginobili comes back and probably waived.

I was ambivalent regarding the selection of farmer over hairston. I had never seen either of them play in SL or PS. Now it seems that maybe hairston would be doing more good.

Yeah, I know... hindsight is always better than foresight....

I still don't understand the chorus that Hairston has that much more upside or is the better player. Right now, Hairston has no specific skill that I can see. Players like Hairston don't end up on the Spurs straight out of the draft, they end up here after paying their dues and developing some sort of niche to their game.

Farmer has paid his dues and does have a specific skill which is outside shooting, and considering the drought we went into last night, that is something we can very much use.

Obviously, it's up to Pop to put him in the game but I don't see Pop putting Hairston in either. I'd rather stick with Farmer. We will need his shooting. That is something we don't have to develop.

Also, the FO needs to have some patience with younger players (yes, 27 years old is now young), especially considering he went through training camp. Bringing someone in cold at this point is just more of a learning curve to suffer through. I really don't see who is going to fall to us that is any better unless it's through a trade. And if that happens, then we'll figure it out from there.

I'm praying we rape somebody this season like the Lakers Raped Memphis for Pau last season. I say rape but it was more like the Grizz allowed an orgy.

I would add that some people could say that the FO should have patience for Hairston as well, but I don't see how he would improve much by sitting on the bench and never playing. I think he needs to get playing time somewhere to develop his game.

Others probably saw Hairston as a better player. It was very close but I think the FO made the right decision this time.

Hairston can defend and rebound and he's got a nose for the basket. He's a bigger version of Hill. The last thing the Spurs need right now is ANOTHER guy to ing jack up three pointers and not get back on defense or get rebounds.

3 games in 4 days plus or minus. Expect farmer to join the club tomorrow night. I would think its Pops way of allowing minutes per game for the season. Thats the way he normally runs things. Although this isnt a normal year.

that's what I was meaning when I said maybe Hairston would have been better to keep. More of an "all-around player".

I was answering someone earlier who said he had no specific skill. He has several skills that the Spurs need, he's much longer than Farmer, and plays bigger than Tolliver. The nice thing is that if you defend and rebound you can contribute minutes right away.

We need some athletic bigs inside to rebound. I don't know if Ian can be that guy. Lack of rebounding is going to kill us come playoffs, assuming we make it, which we should. A package of Farmer, Bonner and ?? may be decent trade bait, although I like to see Farmer stick around and score.

If Pop wasnt going to play the er i don't know why the kept him. If you can't score 80 in a ing game get some scorers on the court.

From what I saw of Hairston he was not close to Hill in that regard, athletically or for a nose for the ball or the basket. I would have liked to have him over Vaughn or Finley with his new 2 year contract, but he wasn't going to make any big splash this year. He seems like a 3 or 4 year project. I do think the FO needs more patience, but 4 years is a lifetime for a player who I don't think has that high of a ceiling.
