    Dell Curry.

    - provides instany offense
    - quick release on the jumoer
    - self-confidence (ok, this is work in progress, as he has shown some hesitation on a few open shots)
    - good ball handler and passer

The only differences I can think of:

    - I don't think Mason would be as efficient coming off the bench as Curry was
    - Mason is a bit more athletic
    - Mason is a better defender (still work in progress though)

He kind of reminds me of Mavericks Finley, minus the athleticism. Still, the resemblance is there in the jumpshots off the dribble.

Curry comparison is right on, a bit taller and not quite as accurate a shot though

    Del Ellis.

    Instant Offense....kinda.
It's obvious he's a much better player with Parker or another aggressive PG in the game.
    Better off Screen, and movement.

He is kind of a throwback player. Generally seems in control, not rushed on the court. Good skills all around, not spectacular in any one thing. Can play 3 positions if needed. Just a good, solid basketball player.

Finley is a good comparison, except Mase can dribble and Fin could dunk.

Mason has a unique game. His shooting form is like a less exaggerated version of Dell Curry's but Curry couldn't dribble, pass or defend to save his life. I see the similarities in Finley's pull up J but I don't see much after that. Finley was a very good scorer in his prime but he couldn't dribble. I don't see Dale Ellis at all since Ellis was strictly a catch-and-shoot shooter.

A lot of players are considered combo guards but that's usually because they are shooting guards who are too short to be shooting guards so they are forced to play point guard. Mason is a real combo guard based on his ability to handle the ball and make plays. He can also seamlessly play off the ball.

I'd probably compare him to an older Ron Harper minus athleticism and driving ability but with a better shot. Or maybe Aaron McKie minus defense and plus scoring.

Dell Curry was a flat-out classic shooter. Mason will never approach Curry in terms of consistent and reliable scoring. But he's a better ball handler and has a better-developed game in defense and rebounding.

Mason reminds me of Doug West, who had a nice 9-year run with the Timberwolves in the 90's after playing at Villanova.

I can't say Curry because I grew up in NC watching the hornets play. I have great vivid memories of watching Dell play. He was a great shooter with a quick release which was one of the best I have ever seen. Mason doesn't have a quick release like Dell along with the great accuracy.

Mason has an incredibly fast release, not quite as fast as Dell because well, no ones is that fast! But Mase would have to be in top handful in terms of quick release. Other than though, I don't much at all in common with Curry.

Funny, I just watched an old Hornets game - Charlotte vs Orlando from November 1994.

Great game, you can tell that Shaq has aged, and that LJ was LJ.

Anyway, I agree that Curry's release was lightning quick and coupled with amazing accuracy.

Curry's as good a shooter as I ever saw. I hope Mason even approaches that one day.
