Sorry Coco. KC is the end of the world.
The Kansas City Royals today announced that the team has acquired center fielder Coco Crisp from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for right-handed pitcher Ramon Ramirez.
"We're delighted to have Coco join the Royals organization," Royals Senior Vice President-Baseball Operations/General Manager Dayton Moore said. "He is a championship-caliber player who will help this team in a number of ways as we move forward. We'd like to wish Ramon Ramirez nothing but the best. He performed extremely well for us last year as a key component of our bullpen and he will be missed."

Sorry Coco. KC is the end of the world.
Crisp sucks. Boston isn't losing anything here.
He was better than Ellsbury both with the bat and in the field last year.
Yeah, but Ellsbury has potential, despite the choke job all series long against the Rays. Crisp OTOH is what he is, nothing more you can expect from him.
Crisp is one of the best baserunners in the league. upgrade for kc
KC has been lacking adequate defense in Center since they traded Beltran.
DeJesus is a really really nice player (for those of you who don't pay attention to KC) and plays an above average LF, but below average in CF. Gathwright doesn't do much of anything well that doesn't involve stealing bases.
If they're looking for Crisp to just be average at the plate, hit in the 8 or 9 hole, and play very solid defense - KC will be very happy with the acquisition.
If they're looking for a lead-off man to set the table for their boppers (or extreme lack of), they'll probably be disappointed.
They sold high on a middle reliever (a position where even the best players tend to fluctuate from year to year) - so it's not a bad return at all.
