Does anyone know how long he has actually been the spurs PA announcer? I've always wondered that. Seems like he's held the position forever.

Pat Tallman was the PA announcer up until the late 1980s, I think. He passed away.
Didn't Stan Kelly come from the Dallas market?
Stan Kelley came in in 89 90.

He was a good announcer. Kelly is "ok", I can do without the "help 'em out" and stuff...but it's a lot better than the one that the Pistons' have with that "Deeetroit - Basketballllll". Geez.

yea, I've always been wondering when we would get a change. Seems like other pa announcers have always been much better. Stan Kelly getting kinda old now. The spurs need a change. By the way, is it me or did he do that KTFM San antonio moniker back in the day?
I dig Stan. He has to say "A little help" when the Spurs are behind because the crowds don't do it on their own. Like Pooh's example, alot of announcers are annoying and over the top. That, more than any other reason, is why I like Stan.
Stan is okay with me. He is very experienced and works tons of games. He's all over the place...WOAI Morning News radio Co-anchor, Spurs, UT Basketball in Austin, SA Missions. I think I heard that Stan had a bout with cancer several years ago and it turned out well.
Pat Tallman had more of an edge to him...to match the Baseline Bums' 'tude. He incited!
