amare hates d

wants to player for the knicks coach
why waste money and time trying to sign him
Get Amare Stoudemire, teach him defense and pick n roll. Win champions.

its not that amare hates d, he just needs someone to teach him.he would be unstoppable if he knew how to play d. Amare would be a beast on the boards and could d up on any big man in the league.
he could also get more touches in new york and more money
No way we could afford stat AND Lebron.
re-signing mason is a priority right now in 2010
Amare is talented but he has too much ego to defer to duncan, Parker and Ginobili.
Very bad for the chemistry. He could help on offense but I don't know if he fits the spurs system vey well.
time for duncan to move to center and start bosh at pf. when is splitter available?
How much again can the Spurs offer someone like Chris Bosh?
Isn't Parker going to be a UFA in 2010 as well?
No parker is signed through 2010-2011.
It's Ginobili and Mason who are free agent at that time.
The problem I see is that the Spurs have shown they are reluctant to pay the luxury tax. I by miracle they get Bosh or another big star, they probably will let Mason and Manu walk.
I think they may have the possibility to sign Manu and a big free agent, but I don't think the Spurs front office will have the green light to spend all this money.
I remember that part of the reason we traded scola for virtually nothing was to get under the luxury tax treshold, and we were only a couple millions above.
Do you really think the owner will allow the Spurs to be something like 10 millions above?
spurs are going to have to get a decent discount on manu or let those two (along with everyone else) walk if they want to make a decent dent in 2010. parker and duncan alone is 32.3 mil. using a conservative cap of 60 mil (maybe not so considering the economy), that leaves 27.7 mil. then figure in manu and masons cap holds of 16.1 mil and 4.9 mil. that totals 53.3 mil, or 6.7 mil in space. assume hill and ian have their options picked up, and we sit at 4.3 mil in space (all this is not counting min cap holds because im lazy).
so if we let manu and mason walk, we have more than max money to offer. if we let mason walk, and get a decent discount on manu, we have a chance at near max money (depending on the discount). but its going to be next to impossible to keep both manu and mason and make a big splash in 2010 (would have to be an epic discount on manu and mason).

yeah the more I'm thinking about it I can see the Spurs letting Manu go.
OMG...another damn 2010 thread?!?!
We're nearly two full season out and this is like the 5th or 6th thread of its kind since the start of this season.
Maybe LJ or kori should just sticky an "official 2010 discussion" thread right now. I'd be interested to see how many pages of rediculousness we could come up with in two years....I bet it's alot.
@ teaching Amare defense. Heck, even Melo has learnt to play D before Amare
1] If your 24 and don't like to play D you will never want to. Forget Amare. He wants to go to NY for the max.
2] Manu is underpaid now. In 2010 her will be the same age as Ray Allen last season. Don't expect him to sacrifice so that we can give Bosh 17 mill and then in 2011 Tony will deserve his due.
3] If Spitter isn't coming now why in 4 years. He still gets a rookie contract in 2013. Why not trade his rights so we avoid another Scola giveaway.
we won't need to re-sign manu
Im rather sure that Splitter has the option to void his contract and come to the Spurs in 2010 if he so chooses.
Knowing that asshole, he'll probably refuse to come to the NBA until we suck again or we trade him.
