As Usual, San Antonio Planning For the Future
    By Jalen Rose

Gregg Popovich coaches the regular season in order to get ready for the postseason. He coaches for the bigger picture. They had some injuries and that is why you see guys like George Hill and Roger Mason getting big minutes, which is something that is going to strengthen the team down the road.

Mason is my leading candidate for the league's Most Improved Player award. He helped keep them going when Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker were out and there are a lot of opponents who are wishing they had buried the Spurs when they had the chance. Now, those two are healthy, Hill and Mason got experience and the Spurs were able to stay above .500.

I'm a big Chris Paul fan and he should definitely be in the argument when talking about best point guards in the game, but to me, Parker is the best point guard playing. He plays in a situation where it's all about the pot of gold at the end. It's all about the le for him. His statistics might not be 20 and 10 on a nightly basis, but that is because he plays with two other superstars. One thing about being a good teammate is the unselfishness to let others make plays. You have to do that in order for your team to be a championship contender. I've always respected that about his game. Paul is the most talented point guard in the game, but Parker is the best point guard.
its a sad day in MR. robinsons neighborhood when the national media likes our players more then we do. parker is a boss hog and mason is a killah. put down the argentina flag and reckonizzzzzzzzze.

i dont know about MIP for mason. his per36 numbers are pretty much the same they were last year in washington. the two differences are the PT hes getting and his ridiculous 3pt% right now (which is bound to come back to earth).

id go with harris by a pretty wide margin right now.

I dont think Parker gets enough mention as the best PG in the league. He belongs in the discussion with CP3 and Deron. If CP3 plays with Duncan and Manu, he doesnt average 12 assists per game. Hes obviously more of a passing point than TP so likely have the higher assist numbers regardless of where he plays - but TP has to defer alot more and let Duncan and Manu make plays, something Paul rarely has to do.

I would take TP over CP3. I think Deron when healthy might be better than both though.

Mason has thrived under pressure. He definetely gets the mip nod. I bet nobody expected this production. A while ago some of yall was not encouraged by him. I liked his game in washington when arenas was out. And I was jumping when they signed him. Finally a player with some heart. He also brings excitement. Its about time.
