SPURS OBTAIN NAZR MOHAMMED AND JAMISON BREWER
MALIK ROSE AND A PAIR OF FIRST ROUND PICKS SENT TO THE KNICKS
SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have obtained Nazr Mohammed and Jamison Brewer from the New York Knicks in exchange for Malik Rose and a pair of first round draft picks.
The 27-year-old Mohammed is currently in his seventh NBA season. This season he is averaging 10.9 points and 8.1 rebounds in 28.1 minutes while shooting .509 (234-460) from the field and .708 (121-171) from the line. He currently ranks 18th in the NBA in field goal percentage and 25th in the league in rebounding. He has started all 54 games at center for the Knicks.
After playing three seasons at Kentucky, Mohammed was selected by Utah in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft (with the 29th overall selection). In a draft day move his rights were then shipped to Philadelphia in exchange for a future first round pick. After spending two plus seasons with the Sixers he was traded to Atlanta – along with Theo Ratliff, Toni Kukoc and Pepe Sanchez – in exchange for Dikembe Mutombo and Roshown McLeod on 2/22/01. Mohammed was then traded to the Knicks in part of a three-team deal, between New York, Atlanta and Milwaukee, on 2/15/04.
In his NBA career the 6-10, 250-pound, Mohammed has appeared in 363 regular season games averaging 7.4 points and 5.7 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per contest.
Brewer – a 6-4, 195-pound guard from Auburn – has appeared in a total of 54 regular season games in his four-year NBA career. During the 2004-05 campaign he has seen action in 18 games with the Knicks, averaging 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds in 10.3 minutes. Selected by Indiana with the 41st pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, the 24-year-old Brewer signed with New York as a free agent on 8/27/04.
Rose spent eight seasons in San Antonio after signing with the Spurs on 9/29/97. In his nine-year NBA career he has appeared in 563 regular season games, averaging 7.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 17.6 minutes. He is averaging 6.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 17.2 minutes during the 2004-05 season.
Yes. This is a press release from the Spurs.
Rose, the person, will be sorely missed.
Rose, the player, will be somewhat missed.
But, all in all, the Spurs will be better off with Nazr.
Man, I can get some sleep now.
Yea, this was one of an nba trading deadline day to remember.

Good. Now I'm happy. Welcome Nazr and Brewer. Sorry to see Malik leave but we got the better of this trade. Will Nazr be in uniform against the Grizz?
I think he'll be ready to go against grizz.
What are the conditions of the 1st round picks
Not only that he'll prob play about 15 20 minutes. Will Nazr be in uniform against the Grizz?
Good luck to Nazr, and welcome to the good guys.
any comments from Pop or the front office?
I think the main condition is they aren't ours anymore. What are the conditions of the 1st round picks
I don't know squat about this Nazr guy but Pop must so I guess it is a good trade but somehow I feel like this isn't a move against Malik but a move about $$. Would this trade have been made if Malik didn't have his current contract?
How come the pups didnt make a deal today? I guess they realize that it just doesnt matter what they do, pups will miss the playoffs
