One of the most unsafest built cars on the market.
I would take that into consideration if I were you.
JMHO though.
About how much was the price and about how much are the payments?

How so?
Anything I ever read about the SMART cars always emphasizes the safety record of these cars.
I know someone who owns one and he says that he is only comfortable in it for short stretches of time.
I own a smartphone, is that good enough?
Because with TPark bigger = safer
Hilarious fat joke that went out of style two years ago, but congrats on you for sticking with whats old and doesn't work anymore.
That being said, I've read many crash reviews where the car did not hold up well.
Like I said though, free country (for now) do what you want.
Forbes article on safety

WASHINGTON — A government crash test of the 2008 Smart Fortwo micro car, the fuel-sipping vehicle that made its debut in the United States this year, has found a safety concern in side-impact testing, officials said.
During the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration side test on the French-made two-door, the driver door unlatched and opened. The government said that could lead to a driver or passenger being ejected from the 8-foot, 8-inch vehicle.
The agency, however, still gave the car its top score of five stars in side testing because of the ability of the car to protect the driver and passenger from injuries in a crash.
Rae Tyson, a NHTSA spokesman, said the rating is based on the level of protection that the vehicle provides to occupants but added that the agency had wanted to note a potential safety implication.

With the economy in the dump and gas being cheap you can probably get a good deal.
Payments depend on what you put down and term. Say you finance $15K (which would mean next to nothing down) for four years at 6%, your payments would be about $350 per month.

what the ?
how was that a fat joke?
bigger as in big trucks and suvs, etc. But good job on being overly sensitive.
That really is one of a sentence.
I'm so glad you explained it before I did.
I read that thing three or four times before I just concluded that it made no ing sense.
Really? That's surprising since it's less than 9 feet long and weighs 1600 lbs.
I'd imagine it isn't much different than buying a motorcycle, which amazingly don't do well in fender benders either.
then i apologize for overreacting.
i disagree with that as well, i know there are many sedans that do quite well in crash testing. i think the chevy malibu dide good, but i think the hundays (sp) are always at the top. i could be wrong. i just know the smart car built by mercedes i believe, never has performed well in tests, over in europe before it got here, or here.
and a merry christmas to u too.
Should you feel safe in a Smart Car? Sure------

Uh, hitting THAT, I think an Excursion would have looked the same.
Then get one of these!
Remember to buy American!
I'd never buy that clown car unless it was to put a GSXR 1000 motor in it just to around with, it makes for one of a kick ass go-kart
there's a guy selling a yellow one on SwRI campus for like 20,000 I think.
also, for those saying this car is a death trap, its not that bad. Anything that hits at this speed head on into something is unsafe.

For how dumb that car looks it should get better gas mileage it can't touch The Prius.

i'd say you ahve to look at more than just the govt running a car at a certain speed into a wall.
i mean granted at any significant speed you are probably going to get f'ed up and have major car damage but i would still rather be in teh bigger of the vehicles. i still frimly believe that the worst accident i was in, head on into a ditch at 80 mph, would have been worse if i ahd been in a car. i think the size/higher ground clearance and overall different design of the front end of a truck vs a car was able to get me out of the ditch vs getting stuck in it like an arrow in teh ground
i drive one man, not my cup of tea though.....barely use most of the functions of teh car anyway hahahahaa expecially the electric motor hahahahaa....
