When you look around the NBA it doesn't take long to find organizations that are continually making changes in an effort to get their teams to improve on the court.

During a stretch of games just prior to Christmas, the Spurs played three teams headed up by coaches who had been on the job for less than a month. No less than six head coaches around the league had been given the pink slip in the first month and half of the season. In contrast to all this turmoil is the stability of the San Antonio Spurs.

Head coach Gregg Popovich is in his 13th season, the second longest tenured coach in the league behind only Jerry Sloan of Utah. Although there have been some changes to his staff in recent years, there are many years of experience in the system alongside Pop, including Mike Budenholzer, who started out in the video room over a decade ago.

While change may be good and perhaps necessary in some cir stances, the Spurs have no doubt benefitted greatly from a steady and consistent system that has been in place for years.
