No, I'm not talking about the grape varietal for once I just wanted to mention the restaurant Shiraz at McCullough and Olmos to anyone who is a fan of Persian food or wants to try it. Manny and I ate there on New Year's Eve, and it really was definitely worth the mention. Manny has gotten the lamb with a lemon yogurt sauce twice there now, and I had lambchops that night that were the best I've ever had (and the duck I had the time before was also pretty damn awesome).

I know there's not a lot of Persian food around town, but if anyone's resolution this year is to try new things or eat great good, I'd highly recommend it. It's a nice date-night kind of place http://dineatshiraz.com

Has anyone else ever been here?

No, but we went to that new Brazillian Steakhouse, Chama Gaucha (http://www.chamagaucha.com/)last night. It was wonderful. They have 14 different cuts beef, chicken, lamb, etc.. that they bring around and put on your plate. There is a wonderful salad bar as well.

It's amazingly delicious if you like meat and rice. Soltani kabab, kubideh, etc. They also have a variety of interesting stews and other dishes. The only one that I don't really like Ghormeh Sabzi (probably spelled wrong).

In L.A., they have some awesome Persian restaurants but I've never eaten Persian food in San Antonio.

My family used to go to Churrasco's in Houston for Brazilian steakhouse fare, and that place was (and probably still is) really good. We haven't been since I left Houston since I prefer home-cooked meals when I'm with family

Sure thing - the owner/chef is really great, and the menu changes a little periodically to reflect what's available and fresh, so not everything on the website's menu is on the actual current menu at any given time - just a heads up.

I've never had Persian food, and it sounds interesting. Will have to check this out this weekend I suppose.
