Badly? If he's out for the entire year I slide the Nugs out of contention, but barely. And though I know nothing about this injury or story, I'd be surprised to hear it's something season-ending in magnitude.
Do you think the Nuggets fall out of the playoff picture without him?

If it's anything longer than a month it could hurt them badly. Portland and Utah are only 3 games behind.

they will be fine. They already beat Portland without him and can beat the heat and pistons without him..
I dont think he will miss alot of time. He is pretty durable.

postgame x-rays revealed he suffered a probable nondisplaced third metacarpal fracture on his right hand in the third quarter. Anthony will see a hand specialist Tuesday and his status will be determined afterwards.
it's still unknown how long he'll be sidelined.
the billups trade looks even more brilliant because of this.
The Billups trade was just brilliant.
I think Melo will be out 4-6 weeks. It should be enough time for us to overtake them.
Does it really matter in the long run? They will make the PO's either way. I was impressed with them, but they've since reverted back to their no defense strategy it's not likely they are really "contending" for anything to begin with.
If Melo really is out that long (4-6 weeks), Nugz will give up first place in the division to the Blazers.
Sucks too, Melo was looking great this year.
A few medicinal joints and he'll be good to go, as usual.![]()

Melo out but won't need surgery
DENVER -- Denver Nuggets All-Star Carmelo Anthony will miss at least three weeks with a fracture to his shooting hand but won't need surgery.
The team said Tuesday Anthony will be fitted for a removable splint after breaking a bone in his right hand in a victory over the Indiana Pacers the night before.
Anthony was injured early in the third quarter when Pacers center Jeff Foster swatted at the ball, catching a good chunk of Anthony's hand.
Anthony continued to play despite numbness in the hand, scoring 21 points before leaving late in the fourth quarter of a 135-115 win.

This may push them out of the playoffs. Wow.
good for him I hope he will be back soon. We will see what Denver can do without him but it's time for the role players to shine.
FYI, Kori has asked us not to post AP stories here (even though the story is on ESPN.com, the source is AP). Seems AP is lawsuit-happy. Links to AP stories are fine.
This guy is screwing my Fantasy League. I'm in 2nd place and I'd far and away be first if this guy would produce like a 9th pick should.
Is not the end of the world. Nuggets will be fine.
Melo is good but he's not that good. Billups will pick up the slack.
the AP. what a bunch of dbags.

You would need to catch a break. Guess they just do not have enough size to contend with the Blazers.
Portland may overtake them for the division, but Denver will still make the playoffs.
