Apparently Dr. Phil was unavailable.
i guess dr. ruth is too old.
Well, why not?
If Gupta's Surgeon General, shouldn't Keiffer Sutherland get the CIA job?
I hate to break it to you but 24 is a fictional TV show and Kiefer Sutherland is an actor.
While Dr. Gupta is an actual neurosurgeon.
Yes, what are your actual objections to the appointment of Dr. Gupta?
None whatsoever. I merely asked doobs for his.
I'm asking the wannabe comedians.
Oh jeez. Do I really need to say why this is laughable?
Yes, he's a doctor, but he's mostly just a television personality. Has he actually done anything to establish himself within the medical community as an expert on something? What does he know about public health issues? Has he ever had a leadership position? Be honest, now: is Sanjay Gupta as Surgeon General any less absurd than Dr. Drew as Surgeon General?
Don't you think that maybe, just maybe, Obama is being cynical and making a CNN man a part of his administration? I mean, he's so cute and funny! Everyone loves Sanjay Gupta, and CNN loves Obama!
You don't know what the you're talking about
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanjay_GuptaAn assistant professor of neurosurgery at Emory University School of Medicine and associate chief of the neurosurgery service at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Gupta specializes in all facets of neurosurgical care with a strong interest in complicated spine, trauma and 3-D image guided operations. He has recently had articles published in the Journal of Neurosurgery and Neurosurgical Focus on percutaneous pedicle screw placement.
Wasn't he also a medical advisor to HRC at some point?
Those are pretty pedestrian qualifications. I do know what the I'm talking about.
Dr. doobs?
Really, cause i have a hard time believing you could get into Emory Med School if you tried for the rest of your pathetic life.
Perhaps it isn't as plain to the rest of us.
Could you clarify what you mean?
No, I'm a lawyer. But my father has been in academic medicine for over thirty years, and he has held an important leadership position in the federal government (NIH - but I won't tell you more).
"An assistant professor of neurosurgery at Emory University School of Medicine and associate chief of the neurosurgery service at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta."
My father achieved the analogous positions in his field in his late twenties and early thirties. Seriously - weak sauce.
So basically you're against this appointment because you're jealous and feel like it should have gone to your longer-tenured dad instead?![]()
Gupta also achieved those positions in his twenties and thirties, while having tremendous success in broadcasting and writing.
Seriously, quite strong sauce.
He sounds like an impressive man.
So we should throw Dr. Gupta back because he doesn't measure up to your dad?
Really?
Your dad was Associate Chief of ________ in his 30's? I find that extremely hard to believe. An assistant professor in medicine in his 30's? Sure, that's possible.
Damn how did Sanjaya get a degree to become a doctor so fast? It seems like 2 years ago he was only 16 on American Idol. Hopefully he got his long overdue hair cut.
But he never progressed--my point is citing his experience as an assistant professor is pretty much meaningless. An assistant professor is the first thing you do in academic medicine. It's the lowest thing you can do in academic medicine. I'll return to me previous question: has he done anything to establish himself in the medical community? Another one: what does he know about public health issues, besides telling me on CNN to eat my vegetables and to avoid sitting on my ass all day?
Why not Dr. Drew?
And, no, I don't think my dad should be Surgeon General. He would make less money, and he's looking forward to retirement. I only mentioned him because someone asked me if I was a doctor, or what I knew about doctors' credentials. In his role as a medical doctor, Pinsky is Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Keck School of Medicine at USC, Medical Director for the Department of Chemical Dependency Services at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, California, staff member at Huntington Memorial Hospital, and a private prac ioner.
The point is, this is a joke. Sanjay Gupta is a celebrity. I'm asking for someone to please show me how he is a great doctor. Has he distinguished himself?
You just have to kiss the right asses and drink the right wines.
