Why, oh why doesn't anyone use this play to win a game?

First time I ever saw this play, maybe I saw someone else try it since. Probably it's happened again. Maybe the rules now allow a foul to be given.

Let me set the stage....

1991 WCF.
Game 6.
Lakers ahead of Blazers 3 games to 2
Score is 91-90 Lakers with 12 seconds left.
Game 7 if necessary is in Portland
Portland ball.
Porter shoots with 5 seconds left....

.....Now watch Magic Johnson.....

Oh, wait, Adelman was coaching Portland that game. Maybe he told the Kings in 2002 to slap the ball away on any miss so he could win one as he once lost.

Someone else did this in the playoffs last year or the year before and it worked. I cannot find the video though. It is a dicey play to say the least.
