New year brings familiar face to top of Southwest Division
By NBA.com staff reports
It seems every season, "pundits" say the Spurs are too old to be a full-fledged contenders. That their best years are behind them. And every season, Tim Duncan and Co. prove them wrong. This season is no exception.
Maybe it's coincidence, but it seems every time the calendar turns to January, coach Gregg Popovich gets his players focused on defense -- and stringing together some wins. With their 106-84 victory over the reeling Clippers on Thursday night, the Spurs claimed their third straight and ninth in the past 10 games.
That recent surge has given San Antonio a 1 1/2-game lead over the Hornets -- the team getting much more attention -- in the Southwest Division.
Even when the day comes and their stars truly get old and gray, don't look past this team. Period.

Nice article btw.
Why sleep when there are all those basketball articles to post? True greatness often comes with a sacrifice, and that sacrifice is often sleep.
Sleep is overrated. You will get plenty of rest soon enough. Life is to short to spend most of it in Bed. You only need 4-5 hours of sleep anyways. As for us being on top the southwest division. We all know why we are there. We havnt played many good teams yet. If we had already played the Lakers a couple of times, the Celtics, the Cavs, etc. Im not sure we would be on top. Then again with Houston and the Mavs in our division. Its not to hard.hahahahaha
I heard einstein wouldn't sleep just take 45 minute naps every 3 hours.
I don't want to sleep too!!! Can you tell me your secret??? I hope it doesn't have anything to do with eggplants.
