mrspurs, NBA draft history is loaded with players drafted later in the 1st who ended up doing much better then the top 10ers.

Go look at his PER, and also look at his stats for the 18 minutes he plays. His numbers would be just as good as the top 3 if he played their minutes.

I disagree he would be ROTY, the defenses would've started keying in on him and I think he would've struggled with that long enough to take him out of the running.
Tell that to OJ Mayo and Derek Rose. Hill would be doing good but he's not even a true point guard ... he's a scorer like Parker. But Mayo is a much better scorer and Rose is a much better PG. So no, I don't think so.
i can't see any spur player who actually doesn't benefit from being a spur.
all our role player would almost remain anonymous in NBA without the spurs (oberto, bonner....)
Bruce wouldn't be recognised as the first class defender he is.
Tony and Manu would be playing great elsewhere but not known as proven winner as they are and deserve to be.
Mason would have been stayed unknown with an invisible career.

Even Tim, who still would be one of the greatest player of his time and maybe still a HOFer wouldn't maybe be considered as one of the best of all time.

not saying that each player doing well doesn't have his share of credit in what happen to him. but the Spurs have changed the career in a good way of so many players than i see it as a gift, a luck and a privilege when a player has the chance to play for them.
ROY? I don't think so but his name would be in the conversation. He would obviously have more minutes to develop but I still look to Mayo and Rose as being the prime candidates now for that award.
I just hope that as the season goes on Pop will give him more minutes and let him play through some tough stretches so he can mature more. At times it seems that TP gets winded and his legs give out. Timvp and others have pointed this out - that historically this seems to be his pattern until he gets that second wind in the latter part of the season.

Hill would be a candidate for the all rookie team but I don't think he would put up better numbers than Mayo, Westbrook or Rose...
I think Mr. Hill will be a rather good player. He is a strong athlete that seems to have a good head on his shoulders. But he has many of the limitations seen with rookies.
1. The NBA 3-point line is too long for him. Thee corner 3 is within his range but the wing is a tough shot. I don't think he would argue against this. But, he was a strong outside shooter in college. I've seen several games where he would snap a quick three from the top of the key. Players that can do that in college, and have the foot speed to get open, learn to do it in the NBA. He's 2 years away from this.
2. Limited left-handed finisher. Certain teams have already identified that he does not like to drive to the left. Also, he will start by driving left and then cross-over to the right before he takes the shot. He also seems to favor this swooping layup that tends to hit too high off the board. I'm not sure how much success he can get from that shot. In an attempt to avoid the shotblocker he tries to aim high and reach around the defender. Instead, He might want to lead with the body and then extend during the very- last phase of his layup. Kobe has that mastered.
Overall, he has all the tools needed to be good. Currently, Mayo is a much better shooter and Rose a much better finisher. But hey, let's have this conversation in 4 years!
The knock on him being a bad finisher is a fair one and one I don't dispute. I think he can easily fix and remedy that as Tony Parker did. When Parker came into the league he was notorious for being able to blow by the defender but miss contested layups.
Right now I think his season is going as perfect as you could hope, and I think he should easily be on the rookie team at the all star game, and possibly second team all rookie, which is nothing at all to sneeze at.
Eh, I'd wholeheartedly disagree with the knock. I think he's one of our best finishers when he's being aggressive and actually getting to the paint. The problem is, he starts deferring too much, especially to Manu. When he's on the court he needs to be looking for his own shot any time the ball is in his hands ...

And if Manu was that good he would have been picked earlier than 56th. And If this Tony Parker character was any good he wouldn't be drafted at 28 in '01. So... the logic behind your statement (and hopefully it was meant to be a joke) is flawed and laughable to say the least.

hill still has the benefit of top notch coaching and class act players that surround him. he was also playing with tim duncan.
i fully believe in geogre hills talent but i dont think he would easily win the ROY at all. he simply wouldnt have the atmosphere.
He was starting for a weaker team: The Spurs of the first weeks of the season.
