But, I did and I do have a question.
How come Detoit is #1 over SA?
Add up all the categories and the Spurs average is much lower than Detroit's, so HTF is Detroit rated above SA????
It is? Why is it front page on ESPN's NBA section? This news in 2wks old Spurm....pay attention!
I guess the "bang for your buck" stat is weighted greater.....which is understandable, that's by far the most important stat.....
You came in #1 last year anyway. You can settle for 2nd place for a year.
actually if you go back and look at the equation bang is the lowest rated catagory
I used their equation and got something like 5.2 for the Spurs and 8.68 for the Pistions
lowest score is best, since 1 is the best rating
the Spurs should be rated the best
Here is the formula:
(.178 X Bang for the Buck) + (.142 X Ownership) + (.142 X Fan Relations) + (.139 X Players) + (.135 X Affordability) + (.112 X Stadium Experience) + (.096 X Coaching) + (.056 X Championships) = Ultimate Standing
I think they used ratings from fans (for example, based on a 1-10 score) rather than applying "ranks" to the formula. So the Pistons probably just had a much higher SCORE in a couple of the categories.

As I said, bang for the buck is the most important catagory.
Go read their formula page, it backs up what I say.
When you go to Pistons games, does bang for the buck include being assaulted by various NBA players? Damn! We need to have more Spurs players coming into the stands and beating the crap out of fans, then we would be #1 in fan satisfaction!
respect the 'fro![]()
I think it has more to do with having one of these..![]()
Where else can you go and a be a part of an Ulitmate Fighting Championship PLUS get to watch an NBA basketball game, all for the price of one ticket?
Of course the Pistons are number 1.
BTW, this ESPN poll is asking the fans to vote for who they think is the best NBA Franchise:
http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sports...?event_id=1209
The Spurs are running away with it.
If you are not going to use the ranking but some other number why bother showing the rankings? You can rig it any way you want.
Also where does it say that they use something other than the rankings?
Where does it say that the highest score wins?
If you go by lowest score, then Championships most important.
The only thing I had to go on was ranking and formula, with those numbers Spurs are #1 with 5, Pistons are #2 with 8.68 and the 3rd place team is somewhere around 11.
Do you people know how to read? From the ESPN page:
If you check the formula, Affordablitiy is a HIGHER number that staduim experience....so it would make sense to conclude that it is a HIGHER number thats better...For example, fans rated Affordability about 20 percent more important than Stadium Experience, so that's the weight we assigned it.
Just be a man and admit you made a mistake.
All that matters, and I think our Detroit fan would agree, is where your team stands at the end of June.
I'm sorry...but the Pistons do give you the most bang for the buck...they could have charged extra for J O'Neal knocking that fat Pistons fan the out. A lot extra...that was better than a lot of PPV boxing matches I've paid 60 bucks for.
That was the punch of the century.
They, and the Pacers are definetly the most interactive teams in the league. They give their fans the feeling that they are right there...which of course, they are!![]()
Obviously.
The ring is all that matters.
Tell that to Fatboy
Whottt, they also give chairs to fans to throw at other people and at opposing players.
Also I hear that the replenish all the food and drink that you dump on opponents at half the price at the concession stands..that is a sweet perk, IMO.
well, we don't have the hodowns, square dances and roedeo clowns that the spurs do, we we had to make our fans happy somehow......
Why would they do that? You can rig it any way you want.
Yeah, that rodeo stuff sucks, I agree.
So you sponsored a "get punched in the face by an NBA player" night![]()
Now that's what I call brilliant marketing.
Seriously though...I would have enjoyed being at that game.
Yes, that was popularized when Lambeer was playing...you could enter a lottery to be able to punch him in the face.
