I was almost sure that this article was going to be about Mason and Bonner. What's the word on the three point shooting contest invites?
Two All-Star announcements, both good for Spurs
By Jeff McDonald
Before tonight is over, there will be two announcements related to the All-Star games, both of which affect the Spurs.
One man will be invited to Phoenix for the Feb. 15 festivities. One man will be told he can stay home. Both men will be happy about this.
First, the All-Star starters. The results of the fan balloting will be announced tonight on TNT at 6 San Antonio time, as part of the network's Thursday night NBA coverage. Tim Duncan will be one of them. At last count, he garnered the second-most votes in the Western Conference behind a guy some of you might have heard of, Kobe Bryant.
Duncan says he will be thrilled to participate in his 11th All-Star game, and 10th as a starter.
"It's unbelievable that fans continue to vote me in," Duncan said. "I don't expect it every year, but I'm always honored by it."
Meanwhile, it's already been decided who will coach Duncan and the rest of the West All-Stars. That "honor" will not fall to Gregg Popovich.
Phil Jackson clinched the spot Thursday night, when his Lakers defeated the Clippers, thus ensuring them of the conference's best record at the All-Star break.
I was almost sure that this article was going to be about Mason and Bonner. What's the word on the three point shooting contest invites?
I guess that means Bonner isn't going to be in the 3 pt shootout with mason
When are the 3pt contest participants announced? Even though any Spurs player who enters usually stuffs up, I think Mason would have a real shot considering his fast release.
Are the Spurs going to own the NBA HOF/NBA STAR/WNBA STAR shooting compe ion again?
NBA All-Star Lineup: Tim Duncan Named to Team
SAN ANTONIO -- The 2009 NBA All-Star lineup will be announced at about 6 p.m.
But News 4 WOAI’s Don Harris already has the list and has big news about the star of the Spurs.
It’s no surprise and yet no less amazing. When Tim Duncan’s inclusion on the all-star team is announced, he will break David Robinson’s all-time Spurs record by being named to his 11th NBA All-Star Game.
Tim Duncan’s All-Star Résumé
11th straight All-Star Game (no game held in 1999)
Ten times a starter
One of only 4 players to play in 10 straight
2000 Co-MVP
So who’s playing with Tim? Don Harris will have that for you at 6 p.m.
When was Tim not a starter? I had always assumed he had been 100% on all-star starts...
It was his rookie season I'm pretty sure. Then again when do you see a rookie voted in as a starter ..
Damn, if Amare hadn't beaten him, Bruce Bowen could've started??????
![]()
The 3 pt shoot out contestants are announced Feb. 4th.
duncan is the best PF except Dirk so there is no doubt they are gonna start at F. amare is a monster in the 3s yet a crap outta that zone 'cause his shooting is more crappy that Ben and more blunted than yao in dribbling.
I heard that and thought it was a typo... but how the did Bruce Bowen have more votes than Nowitzki, Carmello and Gasol?
That's awesome
He came off the bench in '98, his rookie year, chosen by the coaches.
There was no game in '99.
He's started every one since.

Is IUPUI a voting force nearly equivalent to China ?![]()
Bruce making it would have been awesome. Even he didn't deserve it, it would have been a nice consolation of all the DPOY awards he should have had.
I agree with this ^^^... It's weird to see Bruce getting those many votes and Manu almost getting more votes than T-mac... Bruce would only quiet his pain for never getting the DPOY award with another ring and a Finals MVP to go with it![]()
Man, if Bruce would have beat out Amare that would have been the funniest thing of all time.![]()
WTF, Bruce finished 3rd?
Thats amazing.
That's pretty awesome.Forwards: Tim Duncan (SA) 2,578,168; Amare Stoudemire (Pho) 1,460,429; Bruce Bowen (SA) 1,392,398;
Not bad for someone averaging 2.8 points per game.
China must love defense![]()
There might be something fishy with T-Mac there, he was leading CP3 in each return missing games, now all of a sudden his half a mil behind after one more return.
Yao said he wanted him traded. China heard.
Duncan is amazing. I think he could end up with 14 or 15 all-star games in a row before it's all said and done.
Ahhh ok I know he played in the all-star game during his rookie season I had just assumed he started. Thanks.
when do they announce the reserves? You think Phil will pick TP?
Paul being picked ahead of TMac is a good news for TP.
The situation is quite simple for him. There are 4 legit all star PGs : Billups, Nash, Williams and Parker. 2 will make the all start, 2 won't make it.
i think shaq started on his rookie season.
