Rumor: Pistons thinking of moving Iverson

By now, most of you know that anytime a team flat out denies having a player on the trading block, that means that he is absolutely on the trading block. On Friday, during the Pistons/Mavericks game on ESPN, it was reported that Joe Dumars was looking for “stability” for his team, and that he would only entertain a deal that would give him that. It seems clear in today's NBA, that you need to win right now, as witnessed by the number of coaches fired already. Detroit has certainly missed Chauncey Billups since trading him in November, and the early returns on Allen Iverson haven’t been great. Now comes word out of the NY Post today, that Detroit may look to trade AI before the deadline, if they are able to receive an expiring contract in return. If this turns out to be fact, then this could change the potential suitors for another player on the market in Shawn Marion. Many teams that were interested in the talented Miami Heat star may now opt for Iverson if they are looking for a flat out scorer. AI may also wind up being a better value right now, as he knows he is playing for a new contract, and his value has diminished considerably over the last season and a half. Stay Tuned…
In sad news this morning, Knicks center Eddy Curry received tragic news last night, as the mother of his 3 year old son and her 9 month old daughter were found shot dead inside their Chicago apartment. Curry’s son was not injured, but witnessed the ordeal. Authorities told the NY Daily News that Curry was despondent when told the news, and that they believe the killer is a known acquaintance.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that you can add the Cavs to the list of playoff hopefuls that are shopping for point guard help for the stretch run of the season. Cleveland, although having both Daniel Gibson and Delonte West playing point most of the time, are not comfortable with those options heading into the playoffs. Potential guards on the trading block include the Grizzlies Mike Conley, Philadelphia’s Andre Miller, and of course the exiled point guard in New York who hasn’t played all season, Stephon Marbury.

AI isn't doing what he was expected to do so it's reasonable the pistons are seeking some trade to move him, but his trading value has significantly decreased and is pretty low now that he performs bad on pistons. His expiring contract should be an attractive bait to the teams on rebuilding but they have few player who is as good as AI at his prize. Pau is with lakers while the nets needs carter to keep their die-hard fans than voluntarily pay dollars every home game.

Tmac is the only guy I can think of that is assesible to the pistons but I don't think they still hold any interest on that .

Who would want Iverson? Nuggets are doing better without him and if Pistons move him aren't they saying he is not worth it? What could they even get for the guy. I think they are stuck with him until contract runs out. I thought Iverson would have been perfect for the Pistons. Not sure of that anymore but I have not entirely given up on that thought.

Condolences to Eddy Curry. Wow, that is tragic.

Iverson has caused a chain reaction of on-court moves that have jeopardized Mike Curry's ability to coach. That doesn't make Iverson responsible nor does trading him magically fix the Pistons.This has to do with an inexperienced and indecisive coach.

The damage comes from new leadership in every position of power for the Detroit Pistons with one too many tests of it early on. In short, Joe Dumars screwed up this offseason.

If you found the third stupidest person that ever lived in the history of the Universe, even they would know that the more Iverson plays off the ball the less effective he is.

Unfortunately for the Pistons, the two stupidest people in the Universe, the only two people that have ever lived or ever will live in history, that don't realize this, are the current GM and head coach of the Detroit Pistons.
