( le my own adaptation. Only posted here because of the Rasheed Wallace rumors. The motivation to trade Sheed for $1 mil less in contracts to avoid the luxury tax is no longer there.)
Pistons will trade Acker to Clippers

PHOENIX – The Detroit Pistons will complete the trade of backup shooting guard Alex Acker to the Los Angeles Clippers today.
The Pistons won’t get any players in return – instead teams will swap second-round draft picks in the future.
It’s strictly a financial move for the Pistons.
While the salary cap is set at just under $59 million, the threshold where the luxury tax kicks in is just over $71 million.
Trading Acker’s $711,571 salary allows the Pistons to avoid the tax.
The move also clears more cap space this summer when the combined contracts of Allen Iverson and Rasheed Wallace, a value of $35 million, clears the books.
And despite speculation putting the Pistons in the sweepstakes to acquire Suns power forward Amare Stoudemire, a person familiar with the situation said things are “quiet” when it comes to possible major deals before Thursday’s trading deadline.
The seldom-used guard averaged 1.7 points per game in seven appearances.
