^ guess he lied. damn tmac and kobe in the same town....
"There could be a new guard in town for the Rockets -- and it's not Vince Carter. Houston has moved into negotiations with the Clippers for point guard Baron Davis, a source close to Davis told SportingNews.com on Wednesday. "It would be best for everyone if Baron moved on," the source said.
The Rockets, still smarting from the loss of shooting guard Tracy McGrady, who will miss the rest of the season with knee surgery, apparently have not given up on the 2008-09 season. The team has played well without McGrady, going 13-6 (they were 20-15 with him), but needs another scoring presence if it is to rescue this season.
Bringing on Davis would have some risk. He is in the first year of a five-year contract that will pay him $65 million, and he was supposed to be a building block for the Clippers. But Davis and Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy have not meshed well, and Davis is averaging 15.5 points, his lowest total in nine years. The team is just 13-41, coming off a humbling 140-100 loss to the Suns. If the Clippers can get out of Davis' contract now, they will seize the opportunity, even if it means taking back the oft-injured McGrady in return."

I'm confused, Les said he wouldn't trade mcgrady.![]()
^ guess he lied. damn tmac and kobe in the same town....
they're good friends but boy do i feel bad for tmac if that happens, baron has beeing playing poorer than tmac this season though.
Who the knows what has happened inside this organization in the past two weeks.
Heres my conspiracy theory:
Tension with McGrady and Artest (locker room issues reported in the paper)
McGrady being a primadonna tries to use his influence to demand changes.
McGrady tries to get Artest traded (all the rumors about moving ron surface)
Management realizes it might be better to move tmac (Tmac rumors leaked)
Tmac sees new rumors and panics, trys to stall for time (sits out games, sees doctors)
Management finds out about the leak and goes into damage control (Les says we arent trady McGrady)
McGrady attempts to block the trade by announcing surgery (information leaked to espn and not through the team)
If something like this didn't happen, then this organization should have a suck off with the Suns to claim the official last spot in the league.
holy crap you're right there is no way all that crap goes on and especially mcgrady not announcing his surgery to the team, but ESPN
baron is probably not all that motivated to be playin for a 13-41 team. This keeps getting confusing. We are turning into the cowboys. !!!
If I am Houston, I don't take on Baron's bloated deal, but I do look to move T-Mac. Maybe not now, but in the offseason.
i think i know why Les said he wouldn't trade him, to stop him from leaking all this crap
McGrady would probably pull a Gilbert Arenas and shut himself down next season too if he got sent to the Abyss that is Los Angeles. If you are the Clippers I guess you do this in a heartbeat, to get Barons contract off, and knowing that you are only renting T-Mac for a season. Houston would really have to be acting emotionally to do this, or feel that Baron can be that big of a difference maker.
tmac aint doing for u now or ever...get rid of him.
The more you look at it, this HAS to be done. Les said that he wouldn't trade Mcgrady so that mcgrady would keep quiet about his condition, but that ship has sailed. We'll wait and see.
i say do it...PG has been our weak spot forever, baron being traded here would motivate him, i'm wiling to take the risk
here's another article with a little more information:
"After hearing and reading in media reports that Tracy McGrady will have season-ending microfracture surgery on his ailing left knee, the Houston Rockets aren't ready to pack it in. They might be looking to do something big.
The Rockets have been mentioned in plenty of trade scenarios in the past 48 hours, but none more intriguing than the latest one that puts them in conversation with the Clippers about Baron Davis.
A person with close ties to Davis told CBSSports.com Wednesday night that the Rockets and Clippers were discussing a trade that would free Davis from a disastrous return to his hometown and allow the Rockets to remain in contention without McGrady. The parameters are difficult to nail down, as the talks involve "a lot of moving parts," the person said. But it appears that one possibility being discussed has the Clippers willing to take back McGrady even though he won't play the rest of the season and faces a long recovery from the microfracture procedure.
As preposterous as that may seem, the trade makes sense in Clipper logic; McGrady has only one year left at $23 million, while Baron has four years and $54 remaining on the contract he signed with the Clippers last summer. There would have to be other pieces going to Houston to make the salaries match up; the Clips have been looking to deal Chris Kaman. If the talks progress, the parts could be so complicated that a third team might be required to facilitate.
SportingNews.com first reported Houston's apparent interest, quoting a person close to Davis saying, "It would be best for everyone if Baron moved on." It could be an inside job, with Davis and his operatives trying to drum up an exit strategy, with a solid playoff team as the destination. One source said the Rockets are telling teams they're working on "smaller deals." There would be nothing small about this one."

i just heard confirmation....so mcgrady did screw us over with this drama at the trade deadline...no sympathy for him whatsoever, hope he ends his career with the clippers!
confirmation on what?
confirmation of his dirty tactics on the radio
No surpises here.. another day at the office for tracy nothing to see here.
hmm does Baron make us better? T-Mac was terrible this year. For the Clippers, they only have to endure T-Mac for one year at 23 Million vs Baron's bloated contract. But Baron's contract is only half of what T-Mac's was. We can actually get another good player for 10 Million that we save by shipping T-Mac out. We are really weak at guard too and Baron is a good guard but his shooting percentages are atrocious. I know cause I had Baron on my fantasy team. So I"m not sure this is a good thing.
The Clippers have to give us a 10 million a year player too. Wonder who that might be? Kaman?
Wish we could just make a trade of T-Mac for Monta Ellis.
if it is kaman then i can see the clips loving this deal. this would save them around 65 million over 3 years. not exactly sure how that works out for the rockets. it means massively overpaying for a backup center who can play some power forward for us but it does give us a pretty versatile line up. i dunno...
I would do it, and find a 3rd team to take kaman like OkCity.
DD
I say if you can get rid of tmac at this point for something like Baron then you do it. It'd be great for them to want to get rid of baron so bad that they convince us by throwing in camby as well. Obviously wont happen but ill dream about it for tonight. Id think about taking kaman but thatd just be too much injuries to take back. Im tired of injuries
Thing is, it's like trading in a gimp for another gimp. Baron Davis has the worst knees and is one fall from ending his career.
