The vice president also suggested that Democrats, united now in opposition, are mishandling the issue. What I want to know is how long this republican held congress is going to allow the deficit to balloon until the US is bankrupt.
SS does not need to be overhauled like Bush wants, just tweaked minimally to steer it back in the right direction. Even non-partisan sources like factcheck.org and the GAO agree on this.ss needs to be changed... what do you propose??? just wait til it goes bankrupt???

So now Greenspan is the ultimate authority on social security?
I'm not sure what fackcheck.org articles you are reading- because the ones they email me daily point out that the "tweaks" are all short term solutions that don't really address the problem.
SS does need to be overhauled if people like me ever hope to see a dime of the money I pumped in.
The deficit needs to be overhauled as well.
