    Don't you??

I can't wait to watch this dude plays for the spurs,Its definitely different from other spurs players besides big 3, you know what? during the past 7 or 8 years, there was no any "powerful trade" and "powerful signing" to the spurs, as often as I heard some trade news or signing news about the spurs in the past,I had no sursprise at all, How could I surprise for those players like Udoka,Beno,Oberto .Kurt ,Vaughn and some former spurs players in the past ?? no offense to them,I'm just saying my feeling

But I think this time must be different and I also think that he will give a big contribution to the spurs, hopefully he will recover his health ASAP

I'm confused. If he can come in and give us just his average 13.1 and 8.7, isn't that a key role? Isn't that what David did for us in 2003 for his last ring? I'd LOVE Drew to come in here and play a key role, and make us a Big 4. Not saying that's going to happen, but if it did, we'd damn sure be a better team, in my opinion. A guy who can bang on the blocks could be a MAJOR part of our lineup.

problem is he is a terrible defender who makes dumb decisons on the court...yes he may make spurs better with rebounding and another scoring option but i simply can't trust him in key playoff games when games are on the line. he messed up too much.

I'm holding my reservations until he shows me that he can adapt to the Spurs system. I would say Im "Iinterested" in how he plays..... but excited (within the context of your post)? no, not really.

I'll pass judgement after a few games that he actually plays in.

Remember when Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili were out and the Mavs still couldn't win.

How's he gonna give us 13.1 and 8.7? He'd have to play 30 mins+, where do we get the mins from? Sit who? Bonner? Thomas?

Bonner gives us something we need with the way we are playing this year. Thomas is our strongest big-man defender besides TD.

I realize you said you don't think that's going to happen, still, just pointing this out. He won't play a 13/7 role, but he can STILL play an important role with an occasional 10/5 game when he is the hot hand Pop rides.

The Gooden signing is the best Spur signing in years. We get a starting quality PF who's gotten to the Finals, who puts up much better numbers than Oberto, Thomas, Bonner, Eslon, Nazr, or Rasho, and we're getting him for a song. I mean cheap. Great fricking signing.

Are you dense? Do you not realize the difference between a starter (Gooden) and a sub (Bonner)? And sure, KT was a starter, and he's still strong, but he's OLD. He's slow.

Of course Gooden should get their minutes. Duh.

Pop's system doesn't work like that.

At least it would be incredibly unusual to see.

Having never played for Pop before March 2009? He should walk in and take their mins? Really?

Are you dense to think a guy that has a rep of not playing defense should actually make Pop abandon his no-defensive-stupidity rule? For 13 points?

How many times have we seen Pop pull guys for making ONE defensive mistake? To make a point that he won't tolerate it? You think Gooden can come in and flash his 13ppg avg and make Pop forget that?

Nope, not hating. Just being realistic for what I hope this guy can do for us.

He can be an important part of our team without taking 30+ mins a night. He can even have an occasional 30+ mins night every now and then if he's on a roll. But he has to prove he can stay on the floor for Pop.

Plus, if he proves me way wrong and cements himself as a starter for the next three years, I would LOVE to say I was wrong.

    Team first, my pride second.

Before people start passing judgement on Gooden, cutthe guy some slack and let him play a few games to get a feel for Spurs BB. This is a low-risk move by the Spurs that could pay off. We'll see.

I bolded and underlined that because it's in the past tense. Who knows what he'll be like in this lineup. I've seen several Cavs fans come in here and say we made a great signing. I tend to agree. If he gets 13 and 8 and bangs on the blocks like he always has, he could help us a lot.
