I'll take it, and his backers need to drop this "not a spot up shooter" crap.
17 Points, 6-11 (3-6 on threes)
7 Asissts
5 Rebounds
It's against the Hornets, but improvement again.
I'll take it, and his backers need to drop this "not a spot up shooter" crap.
nice game, i was happy to see this stat sheet, now if he can do this against a good team, i'll be very impressed
Manu being out could not come at a better time. Barry got some great minutes, in a time where his spirits were down, and we played some teams where he could get his confidence back. I also feel he understands what his roll on the court should be. He was able to get good extended play to figure it out. Like he just said in his interview, Hopefully his teamates and coaches will continue to support him and he can start playing more like he did tonight. If he continues to be as effective as he has been I think his emergence is the best thing that will have come out of the last three games.
Barry has had big games against good teams. He hit the biggest 3 pointers of the season and he still gets called a choker. If he has a bad game against a bad team people still say he choked, and when he has a good game people say it was meaningless. Saying you will be impressed if he does it against a good team is not true, because he has already done it and you obviously weren't impressed. Barry just can't win in this town. Spurs fans have designated him as the offical scapegoat and player to be hated. They have called him everything from a choker to a coward because he came to a new team that plays a totally different style of basketball, and isn't shooting 40%. I've seen people use his ft% as proof he is choking. I've even seen people call him a bad passer because he makes 1 turnover in a game. While Devin Brown and Beno Udrich are allowed to make 4 or 5 turnovers in a game, including some that lose games, and they don't get 1/10th the criticism Barry does.
Big props to Barry tonight. I fully expect him to step it up in the playoffs.
Devin and Barry have lost the tentativeness, hopefully not just temporarily.
barry and brent have nothing to lose now
pop can not bench them with tp and manu out
they both need to grow a pair and be a man
Preferably two men.
Whatever.
What people need to realize is that its NOT about who he is playing AGAINST, its who he is playing WITH. The team out on the floor tonight suits his style of play. Beno passes and moves the ball well. Devin runs the floor, Tim down low.
Melo and Bostjan disagree. What people need to realize is that its NOT about who he is playing AGAINST
Now hopefully this is the spark that gets Barry going.
Hopefully Manu and Tony can get totally healthy. Jeepers!
yea he does do well with a small line up. That suits his passing skills and the motion offense helps him get his game going a little quicker. Just standing around passing the ball to the post is not utilizing his strengths.
Stoudamire and Marion don't.
Why on earth should we expect him to hit 40% from downtown? It's only his ing lifetime percentage? How unfair...
He did a good job of distributing tonight, but didn't hit any threes until it was a blowout, starting 0-3. So far, I've still only seen a part time backup PG that can't shoot clutch 3 pointers with the exception of one game.
He shot 50% FG and 45% 3G last year, and is shooting 42% FG and 35% 3G, and we're not allowed to be pissed? that. Not only is he not matching that, he's well below his career marks of 45% FG and 40% 3G. I think LJ has it right. Some people can't do it on a good team.
Thats fine. Thats what this is all about. And I'll give all the Barry bashers a little leeway...your right the Hornets SUCK. But it doesn't hide the fact that with certain players on the floor, particularly when he's NOT playing with Parker, he plays 100% better. Thats not a knock on Parker, he's a great player, he just doesn't fit in an utilize BB in the way necessary for him to be successful on a regular basis.
LMAO. Yeah, he went one on one with those guys all night.Stoudamire and Marion don't.
And two of his three 3pt makes were spot up.
Apologize for making excuses for him.
We got him for spotting up and all the other you guys talk about. He can do it all and once he actually does it, he'll be meeting expectations.
It's so strange that Barry's biggest backers are the ones who underestimate him the most.
Yea, I think we have the right to be pissed. Barry knows he has not been playing up to expectations. he has said lately that he hopes that the fans and coaches can stick with him so that he will turn it around. I think he knows the urgency of the situation. We will see if that translates to good play on the court. I hope so, barry playing like he is capable would be a huge assett for the spurs come playoff time.
I'm not making excuses for him. We would not have won that Phoenix game without those shots. Why are you trying to pretend they didn't happen?
Your right, and the reason he started 0-3 is because the game was SO tight...He couldn't handle the early game jitters. No one is saying they are "satisfied" with the way he's been shooting. Your right, he's below his career numbers. But when he STARTS and when there are certain people on the floor, he plays like the BB we all expected. So be pissed and keep ing about stats, stats, stats...You know, its all about fantasy leagues anyways, not real life.
Of course you are.I'm not making excuses for him.
"This isn't Barry's game."
"Barry is not a spot up shooter."
"Barry doesn't do that."
"Barry won't fit this set."
"Barry can't play with these guys on the floor."
"Why are you asking Barry to do that?"
that.
The biggest Barry backers are the ones that can see the way he is being used, isn't what suits HIS game best. I'm not saying CHANGE the offense for him. But if Pop REALLY wants to get the most out of him, he better rethink how he uses him, and who he uses him with...
I think barry should try to replicate his slam dunk winning free throw dunk in a game.
There you go again.isn't what suits HIS game best.Bull . I have never seen more calls to change the entire offense (and defense) of a championship level team for the sake of a career 10ppg player in my life.I'm not saying CHANGE the offense for him.
