Drive a stake in the ground. At this point, who is the better backup PG?

Both are fearless, but Speedy forces matchups like a mofo.

Tough call. Speedy wreaks havoc on both ends of the court but Beno reads the floor well and is an excellent shooter.

Too close to call at this point.

Right now Id give the edge to speedy for his speed, and the fact he can defend.

Beno isn't very quick, and his defense is OK.

But I wouldn't trade Beno for Speedy.

    Beno.

Speedy can play, but his vision and fragility was an issue. Also, his shot wasn't the best (despite his playoff heroics). Beno has the vision of a vet and has a consistent mid range J.

    Beno is for real.

Claxton is 4 years older than Udrih and is capable of averaging 10.7 points and 6 assists. If Beno got in a situation 4 years from now I don't doubt he does at least the same.

Beno!! He could shoot like that every game, he just need more time on court, not 10 mpg.

    No comparison on potential here.

Beno has been called the "Poor Man's Stockton" legitametely.

Speedy has just been called "Speedy".

Beno by a mile for what the Spurs need now - a passer and shooter with range.

Not to be a hater, but Speedy was also pretty ineffective in Game 6 of the 2003 WCF, when Parker went down with food poisoning.

Kerr's hot shooting in the 4th quarter of that game is well-remembered, but most forget that he got to play only because Parker was unavailable and Speedy wasn't playing particularly well.

But that game had one of my ALL TIME favorite Speedy plays. He came in late for Kerr, and got caught in a switch on D. He was fronting Raef LaFrentz on the block, and whoever was throwing the post pass decided that he could lob it over Speedy. WRONG! He went up and took it away. If his nickname hadn't been Speedy, it would have been Springs. He has a serious vertical in addition to his quickness.

I'll always remember his live lockerroom quote after Game 6 of the Finals:
"I'm so ing happy right now"...
    on live radio.

I think long range potential, you've got to go with Beno. Better passing skills, better court vision, understands how to run the offense-hit guys with passes in the flow of the game, also a decent shooter. However, the playoffs is where the level of play gets kicked up a notch, how will Beno adapt to this? That's my biggest question with him at this point.

    respect the 'fro

This is a tough call. Now lets not all jump on the Beno bandwagon all @ once b/c of one good game. Against the Hornets for that matter. Speedy is stronger, and does force matchup problems. Beno is a better shooter, passer and overall point guard so in the long run I would take Beno, he has a greater upside.
