the only time that ever happened to me was cause my info needed updating and thats there way of getting my attention

Try rebooting the receiver. You press and hold the power button for something like ten seconds, then it will go through its boot process.

You might need a new card. call dish for one or check you're mail.

Yeah, that's never happened to me, but they did just send me new cards a couple weeks back.
