    It pains me to see my favorite player(21) on the decline. While i'm happy with what the franchise has done over the last decade I still get pissed about the same thing I worried about for many seasons. The quality of players that the FO put around the big 3. I always knew the decline would come quicker if they kept putting marginal talent around these three.This forced them to push harder and this type of load on A player will wear down great players like tim and manu quick like we are seeing. I just wonder what it would be like to have A real point guard backup like claxton, or Daniels, A SG like Sjax and A player that can score in the post consistently( Maybe drew might be this guy.) still around to ease tims load. We will need to get better as other teams our starting to .While Tim is A beast and A phenomenon he is not superman. I want to see Duncan get A couple more rings and this will not be easy at his age with average help.

    What leads you to believe Duncan is on the decline? Prior to the injury, he was looking better than he had in years. Tendonosis has an 80% full recovery rate (projected over 6 weeks to 9 months). Just prior to Manu breaking his ankle, he was the leading scorer in the olympics. There's no overt sign that they're starting to decline yet, but I agree with what you're saying and hopefully this off season is when the FO comes to that realization. Artest and Rasheed will be avaliable, and both can be had for under ten million.

    Why didn't you notice that every A was capped in the original post?

    Please please don't let Artest or Rasheed become Spurs...they are great players but I can't root for them as Spurs, they're too immature and disruptive...

    Would you rather have average to above average talent around the Big Three (most teams don't even have a Big Three, BTW), or have a franchise in desperate financial trouble? In case you haven't been paying attention, the NBA tapped a $200M credit line for 10-12 franchises that can't even make payroll this year. I've seen speculation as to who the teams in trouble are, and there are some surprises (Miami) and some not surprises (Sacto, Memphis), but on NO LIST have I seen the Spurs as a franchise in financial straits. Over the next 12-36 months, you'll see franchises doing Camby-style outright salary dumps, franchises being sold, and yes, franchises re-locating. None of those teams will be the Spurs.

    Pull your ing heads out of your asses people. We aren't the richest franchise. Boo ing hoo. We won't be dumping any of our big three for salary relief, we won't be selling or re-locating, but we WILL be in the hunt as long as Duncan is lacing 'em up. If that's not good enough for you, find another ing team and GTFO of here.

Not getting much rest because we need A scorer around to avoid gettin the breaks beat off us. End of story.

    How many years do you think Duncan has left? I say go for broke while he's here. There are a few more pennies you can squeeze out of this franchise without dooming yourself finnacially. You can easily add another impact player or two next season and scrap the 2010 plan.

    Wouldnt extend duncans career but give us a pulse when parker is on the bench. Im talking about our talent around the big 3. Take way one of them for A season and we get creamed on the regular. Period. Look at the big threes backups. Hill (mason gets a pass.) and Thomas. You do the math. I'm confident you know your stuff. Its A concern and not A diss.

    I did the math. Pretty much every team gets creamed when you take away one of its best three players for A season. It's A fact of life. Period.

    ANY TEAM has problems when their stars miss time. You act like it's a Spurs specific phenomenon. It isn't. Look what happened to Boston when KG was out. Backups are by definition never as good or productive as the starter. That's why they're backups. No team, except the Knicks, can afford starter quality backups, and they spend money stupidly.

    Got a question..you're complaining about talent around the Big 3. Ask yourself one question. How many teams actually have a Big 3? What I'm saying is, we're blessed to have 3 players like Tim, Tony, and Manu. How many teams can say the same? Everyone else on the roster is just a small piece. But Mason, Gooden, Hill, Thomas, even Udoka are very good to decent complementary role players. I'd say the talent on our squad overall is better or at least par with any team in the league..period.

    Maybe it's the opposite of when certain girls capitalize everything but the lower-case i.

    Duncan is injured..also, like timvp said, what weird timing..he's coming off 2 great games in a row, where he's looked healthy..he was a top 5 MVP candidate for the 1st half of the season..

    regardless, there's nothing wrong with the supporting cast..Tony Parker has emerged into a top 15 player this season, Ginobili is still great when he's healthy, and we have a solid bench..what more can you ask for?..

    I think some people need to sit down and think about how difficult it is to win 4 les, especially in such a short span..also being in contention EVERY year and NEVER having the luxury of getting a lottery pick..

    Manu's a special case. They bring him off the bench to spread around the shots of the Big Three. If Game 7 of The Finals went to OT, who do you think would start that OT, Manu or Mase? I know where I'd lay my money down.

    Youth never returns and stars fade. Enjoy it while you can.

    Uesugi Kenshin 1530-1578

    Even a life-long prosperity is but one cup of sake;
    A life of forty-nine years is passed in a dream;
    I know not what life is, nor death.
    Year in year out-all but a dream.
    Both Heaven and are left behind;
    I stand in the moonlit dawn,
    Free from clouds of attachment.
