I once heard something about Popovich retiring once Duncan is gone, any truth to this?

Also who would take over the head coaching position? I'd love to have Avery back in SA as the head coach, and I'm sure he'd like to be a coach here as well...

Pop's current contract runs the same as Duncan's, through 2012. He has said he'll retire when Duncan does.

I would not want Avery to take over ever. And, I doubt he will ever be asked to coach in SA, especially when there are so many other more experienced and qualified coaches out there. Just my opinion.

Avery and Pop are 2 completely different people.

Avery did win a ring as a Spur.

However, I'd be a little leery considering his coaching history with the Mavericks.....can't forget those epic collapses in the 2006 Finals and 2007 1st round playoffs.

I wonder if the future Spurs teams will be as successful as they've been this decade.
