*Châlons has confirmed LeRoy Hurd (202-F/G-80, college: UTSA) for the season. Hurd, posting 24.7ppg in 4 friendly games, didn't need more time to convince Coach Delaby. He will replace Anthony Stanford. Hurd may be a better offensive player, but is less versatile then Stanford.

I wonder what happened to this contract he signed last month ...

Hurd got great experience out of his trip to Salt Lake City and that led him to recently sign a contract with a team in Athens, Greece.

Hurd, who averaged 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in the league, leaves Saturday for his trip to Greece.

"The opportunity was too great to pass up," Hurd said. "The Spurs showed a lot of interest in me this summer and things worked out great. They also thought I should take the opportunity to play overseas and help refine my game against some tough compe ion."

Hurd also had a couple of contract offers from Italian and French teams, but said that the league his Grecian team will be in is considered one of the best.

"The Euro League I will be in has produced some NBA players," Hurd said. "There are NBA scouts at almost every game. Some of the European players over there have already been drafted, but are under contract with their Euro teams. I think playing against that type of compe ion will help me down the road."
