these guys will be unrestricted free agents this summer.
after unloading lost of older guys this offseason we should have money to sign a few.

    eddie house - 31yrs, $2.65m in '09

    Ben Gordon - 26yrs, $6.4m in '09 - young, 20ppg, scorer, could replace Manu's scoring

brandon bass-24yrs, $0.9m in '09- young big strong athletic PF with solid numbers for cheap. especailly if dallas blows up their team.

ron artest - 30yrs, $7.4m in '09 -could provide defense, scoring, big strong and athletic

Trevor Ariza - 24yrs, $3.1m in '09 -long shot but provides youth, athleticism, shooting, and DEFENSE. a true Bowen replacement.

matt barnes - 29yrs, $0.8m in '09- athletic SF who can shoot and score.

    carlos boozer - 28yrs, $11.5m in '09

    kyle korver - 28yrs, $5m in '09

mehmet okur - 30yrs, $8.5m in '09 - would be an upgrade over bonner, shoots just as well but a far superior rebounder.

honestly i think Manu is done other that the occasional flash, we should go after Gordon as a replacement, also try Ariza or even Artest in the offseason.

Ben Gordon is going to get paid too much, and he doesn't fit in our system at all..

Eddie House is a worse version of Roger Mason..

I'd love to see Ben Gordon in a Spurs top, shame he's gonna cost too much.

My god, we're at this point now?
Well.. I guess it's not THAT early right now.
With Splitter, Gist and Ian on the way, the future
    looks a bit bright.
Still got Hill, Mason and that kid Hairston looked pretty good.
Oh and what about Parker? lol
    The kid is amazing.
Looks like we'll be building around Parker for the future.
I'd say that Duncan and Ginobili can give their best for
    only 2 more years..
    Window is still open.

How many expiring contracts do the spurs have anyway?
Isn't manu's contract up by this year????
If it is, they offer a lesser contract next season.

Who's not coming back next season?

oh i only put guys 30 or younger in there, and left out Lamar Odom cause theres no chance, and he makes $14 million, as well as some other guys who did not seem to produce enough.

i think brandon bass could be a really good pickup as well as Gordon.

Has the situation with Splitter changed? I think I missed reading about it.

Gordon and Bass would be my top choices on that list although I don't think we could afford either. Resigning Gooden, along with bringing in Gist, Hairston and Mahihmni will probably be the extent of the off season.

I don't understand the love affair with Ben Gordon -- how is he any better than Mason?

Love me some Ariza. That guy is really good and has exactly what we need -- length, youth, athleticism, and killer perimeter D. That being said, I can't imagine LA doesn't lock him up. If they don't it'll be because he got overpaid by someone else. That's less likely in this offseason, so I expect he re-signs with LA.

As far as Odom is concerned, I really don't know if LA will be able to sign both he and Ariza. Ariza's due for a raise, Odom for a slight pay reduction. If they signed both of them, they would be in some serious luxury tax area. Maybe its worth it for them, but it would be hefty. I am fascinated to see what LA will do with those guys after this season. Obviously a lot of it depends on their performance in the playoffs, but it will be interesting to see.

He is a more consistent shooter and has the ability to put the ball on the floor and finish at the rim.

Also, I think we need someone better defensively than Gooden. LJ is right on target -- the guy is a ballhog (though maybe he's out there selfing it for a new deal, which is its own problem) and doesn't play good D. Not good for a long term investment.

At first look I am very opposed to us going after more old guys like McDyess and Rasheed. But, if they could be had for a good price it might be worth it. This is probably Kurt Thomas' last year as a solid defender and we could use someone to plug the hole there.

Chris Anderson really interests me, but he is a risk. Does he have the right at ude? Will moving back to Texas with his sobriety too much? Is this choir boy/great player thing an act in a contract year?

We've had guys with character issues flourish -- Sjax -- but has Andersen really put all that bull behind him?

A lot of these questions will lower his price, which could be a good thing. However, he has gotten some big publicity this year and I think his price will go up a lot. With Camby gone, maybe Denver has the money to lock him up and does.

Absolutely LOVE Trevor Ariza. I've wanted the Spurs to go after him when he left the Knicks for Orlando. He languished on Orlando's bench for a bit. Of course, he didn't have a 3-pt shot then. I'd love for the Spurs to go after him, but he'll be expensive. Also, make no mistake, there is NO WAY the Fakers let him get away. He's too valuable to what they do defensively.

I don't know this for sure, but I'd be willing to wager anyone that resigning Ariza is a higher priority for the Fakers than resigning Odom. Perhaps some of our Fakers posters can offer up a more informed opinion.

At any rate, Jerry Buss is on record as an owner who's not afraid to enter luxury tax zone in order to fulfill championship expectations.

OK -- maybe Gordon has a more diverse offensive game than Mason, but he's got no D and at 6'3" isn't really what I'm looking for in a 2 guard.

    Agreed. But look at this:

    http://hoopshype.com/salaries/la_lakers.htm

They're almost 20 mill over the cap for next season without either Odom or Ariza, and they'd be lucky to sign them for 15 mill combined.

I agree Buss will pay the tax, but at some point it gets to be too much, right?

I also agree that they probably value resigning Ariza over Odom, assuming Bynum's health is OK.

Low, I think. His D isn't there and when the ball gets to him, it stops until he shoots it. Maybe he can be coached up more, but I don't think so.

And Mason does? He's defense has been passable at best and downright atrocious at times. At least Gordon will score as much as he gives up...

I'm not in love with Mason either. I think Gordon would be more of the same -- with some better offense -- at a higher price.
