wut?
Something funny:
- if you go the ESPN Spurs vs Mavs series, the fans voting is 50-50
- if you now go the page where you can vote for all the series the fans said:
31.1% Spurs in 6
20.4% Spurs in 7
11.7% Spurs in 5
2.3% Spurs in 4
Total : 65.5% Spurs win
Other funny stuff from the ESPN pages:
- Tracy McGrady is the only player in NBA history to have won a scoring le but not a playoff series. can you spell loooooooooser?
- Before missing the postseason in 2004, the Blazers had made 21 consecutive playoff appearances. is that true?
- Tim Duncan has never lost a first-round series in which he has played (10-0). yeah baby!
- Lakers point guard Derek Fisher has never lost a first-round series in his NBA career (10-0). somehow that sounds less impressive than the previous line
- Rasheed Wallace and Jason Kidd have made the postseason in 13 straight years (tied for longest active streak).
- The Spurs have made the postseason in 12 straight years, the longest active streak in the NBA. The Mavericks have made the playoffs in nine straight years, the second-longest active streak in the NBA (Spurs). not too bad for Texas...
- Carmelo Anthony has never won a postseason series (0-5). maybe he will have babies with T-Mac?
- The Hawks have not won an NBA le since 1958 (second-longest active drought).ouch
- In Game 5 of the 2006 NBA Finals, Dwyane Wade was 21-of-25 from the free-throw line. It is the most free throws made in a game in NBA Finals history. do they really want to tout this? ok it was against Dallas but still... when games are so obviously rigged you might want to keep it quiet
- The Bulls had 36 turnovers against the Blazers on April 17, 1977, the most by any team in a game in playoff history. 36?!?
I dug through ESPN's archives to find out their pre-season predictions for 08-09. Found it here
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailyd...nioPreview0809
Not one of the 10 participants predicted the Spurs be Southwest Division winner or to be the 3 seed in the West.
Currently on their 'matchup' page
http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2009...avericks-spurs
their panel of 'experts' (choke) have 4 of them picking the Mavs and 4 of them picking the Spurs.
In summary, things are looking good for the Spurs this playoff season because ESPN is (once again) overlooking them.![]()
Vegas has Spews by 4 1/2. Looks like closes spread in the frist round. I am picking Mavs for the series and it would not surprise me one bit if they steal first game. Spew fans must really hate this series.
Well, on the other hand they predicted the Manu "bust". And I like this quote: "Ever since TD paired with The Admiral on those first two les, the Spurs' ring runs have been fueled by the arrival of front-line stoppers -- Nazr Mohammed, Francisco Elson. Miracles aside, no one is up to that task this time." - maybe Gooden can step in this year.
To be quite honest, it was hard to predict that TP would explode the way he did this year - which is probably why they are ignoriing him right now, since he messed up with their predictions (although read the start of season prediction on TP by Hollinger, it's uncanny).
But I agree that as usual they say "never count the Spurs out", but somehow they always do!![]()
None of them predicted the Suns missing the playoffs entirely:

What happened to your Loser Houston Sprockets? They can't even win a Division le when it is handed to them on a Silver & Black tray. Do you plan on watching the Trailblazers beat the Fakers in the 2nd round? That will be a damn good series.
