Reaction to Spurs-Mavs Game 1
By Joe Alexander
Here's what people are saying about Spurs-Mavericks Game 1 - starting with the Dallas-Fort Worth newspapers:
Eddie Sefko, Dallas Morning News
The Mavericks didn't feel like they stole Game 1 against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. Their 105-97 victory at AT&T Center wasn't a heist. It was about as thorough a playoff road victory as you can get when the teams are close to evenly matched.

Randy Galloway, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Listed at 6-foot, but you know it's a stretched lie, J.J. Barea got right in the grill of Mav-killer Tony Parker for most of the night, but especially the fourth quarter.

Tom Ziller, Sporting News
A medley of NBA analysts provided a melody on Sunday's ABC pregame show before Lakers-Jazz, unanimously arguing that the Spurs, victims of the Mavericks on Saturday, are done. The dynasty has ended, said Jon Barry and Magic Johnson with no argument from Mike Wilbon or Stu Scott.

Cedric Golden, Austin American-Statesman
Kevin Garnett and Manu Ginobili each made a huge impact Saturday. And neither played one minute of basketball.

Steve Aschburner, Sports Illustrated
The Spurs have won four NBA championships since 1999 with a proven formula: relying on key role players, mostly off the bench, to back up a cluster of All-Stars by knowing their jobs and doing them well.

The day I give a crap about what the analysts and "experts" say or think about the Spurs is the day I put a pistol in my mouth and pull the trigger.

So NOW you're saying it's a dynasty.Tom Ziller, Sporting News

The Sporting News article was actually good and stuck up for the spurs, unlike the magic and barry laker ass-kissing that was shown today. The amount of crap they showed of the lakers was sickening, especially the kobe piece during halftime.
