Is his 2007 excellent play contributing to a Championship enough to put him in the "positive" legacy hindsight?

Or did losing to the twice (2-2) in the playoffs to the very team who released him ,the first year being the very first time Dallas went without Finley (2006) yet beat the Spurs in the playoffs for the 1st time in ages, combined with a 1 for 4 seasons le percentage (.250) eliminate the 2007 glow?

His acceptance to be Mrs. Greg Popavich loses points to me. None of this "he just did what Popped told him to do" schpeel. A true vet with the teams best interest at heart would have said "get me out here, giving me starters minutes is a joke when I'm getting owned by ____ (insert Josh Howard, Dirk, etc) and my shots are bricking therefore I am majorly hurting the team."

Oh wait, he has a player option next year.

Combine the salaries of Finley, Bonner, Oberto, Ime, Van Excel, etc and how much was the buyout for Scola?

I'm not sure the amount of the buyout is relevant. The Spurs can only pay $500K toward any buyout. The Spurs could have had Scola here. They chose Bonner instead. It wasn't a matter of being cheap. They just made a different personnel decision.

True Kori, yet offering Scola a fat enough contract to where he himself could have helped his own buyout would have been the real deal.
Plus to give Finley as many years and more importantly minutes as PopaLoser did......

Finley was a pro for the Spurs, so yes I appreciate him. And I recall him playing pretty well in the 2006 Mavericks series as well.

He was a very useful piece of the machinery, but not a reason why the spurs won or lost a championship. He gets too much blame heaped upon because he got way too many minutes for this point in his career. That isn't his fault, but rather a problem with the front office and the fates (Manu's injury).

He looked really down in that exit interview posted earlier.

BTW, for me, one of the highlights of 2007 was Finely getting his ring.

i think he wouldve gotten his ring had he signed with heat team in 06....

Positive legacy definitely. Michael was good for the Spurs. A complete pro. He will be seen as one of the veterans that helped win a championship.

See above about accepting "way too many minutes". And there are plenty of ways he could have chosen not to accept those "way too many minutes".
If going to PopaLoser would not have worked, he could have approached Tim Tony and Manu and for that matter the whole team in a players only meeting. The real Championship veterans.
