I disagree, I think Barry played very well.Barry didn't have a stellar game
He was agressive, made shots, tonight was the Brent Barry we expected.
Everyone else stunk way the out loud.
you know that something is definitely wrong.
I hated the effort by the Spurs big men tonight ... defensively and on the glass. (Horry had a good game offensively.)
And on top of that, Tony and Manu lost their killer instinct.
Barry didn't have a stellar game, but he hit some 3's and got to the line.
Could this game help him turn the corner?
I expected an adjustment period for the Spurs after Tim went down, so I'm not writing them off ... and Devin going down made more adjustments. But if they don't win against the Hawks on Friday ...

Barry sucked until he made his second three-pointer. Then he played well the rest of the way. He was horrendous before that on both ends. That's why I said not stellar ... but definitely much better.
Horry and Rasho played a combined of 50 minutes and manage to grab 8 rebounds![]()
Pathetic effort by the big mean all the way around, sans horry, he made up for a little bit with his offense.
Rasho, Mohammed, and, anyone else big, sucked out loud, pathetic effort from those guys.
Nazr can't defend without fouling. He reaches in way too much. I can't believe that he's been in the league this long and doesn't know defensive basics.
I can't see any talent in any Spur since Duncan has been out. Nor have I seen talent in the coaching staff.
As for Manu and Parker. They got their contracts and money. Without Duncan, they look like they can give a about what Pop and his tools have to say.
There is no life, no hope, no talent.
Spurs suck without Duncan.
Well, thats a problem that POp and Co can handle I suppose.
At least, I hope.

Answer me this, other than Larry Brown, who COULDVE taught him.
Obviously Rick Pitino is an overrated coach as well.
waiting on an answer of who you would replace em with Genius .Nor have I seen talent in the coaching staff
I'm just talking basics .. things that guys learn in high school. So I'd imagine anyone could have taught him. I"m not writing him off or anything. I just don't understand it. He has a lot of good qualities. He gets in great rebounding position. He doesn't seem afraid. He's long. But he just seems lost on D... and I'm not talking about Spurs D scheme, just he doesn't seem to know what to do when a guy is going at him.
I know people say that he only spent "half a season" with Philly under Brown. But he was actually there for 2 1/2 seasons ... I would have thought he would have gotten the basics then.
Actually Rasho is a good defender.
It seems that Nazr has bad luck in picking up fouls other players get away with and gets no respect from the refs. Probably cause he's a Muslim black man????
Stop the crazy talk. It's because he fouls people obviously and doesn't make good attempts on the ball.Probably cause he's Muslim black man????
Terry Schiavo could've got more out of this team tonight you dip .
So you would hire Terry Schiavo,
is that your final answer there genius???
Crazy, Bruce Bowen was the leading rebounder...and that was only with 7 rebounds!!
What worries me is that there's no way this team can win even if Tim comes back. We have the same weaknesses we had since last year. We can't shoot for crap and when we can't shoot, Spurs forget to play Defense.
Spurs have the 4th best shooting percentange in the NBA.(46.2)We can't shoot for crap
Rasho is a good shot blocker and he uses his 7 ft height to defend. That's it. He can't score to save his life (4 freaking pts!) and I don't think many people have brought it up, but his rebounding has sucked this season!! He doesn't make smart decisions and I have rarely seen him make a good pass. If the Spurs were to make it to the finals, they would face either Detroit or Miami. How is Rasho going to do against the likes of Shaq and Wallace in a 7 game series?
4 points and 4 rebounds in 25 minutes. I can't believe I am saying this...but I am going to have to agree with Sequ! Spurs will not win a championship with Rasho as its starting center.![]()
Well it's been MIA for a while. My point was that Spurs have a lot of nights where they can't shoot the ball to save their lives (See playoffs last year vs LA games 3-6). And when they aren't making their shots, they seem to forget how play Spurs defense on the other side.
Rasho consistently does everything he is asked to do defensively. (I'm not talking about tonight ... all the bigs sucked.) He is timid offensively and inconsistent on the glass. He's not great, but there aren't many good centers out there.
So even with everyone healthy, you don't think the Spurs would have won the le this season? You are nuts.Spurs will not win a championship with Rasho as its starting center.
Although stupid as it sounds, I think they need to involve Rasho a little more in the begining to get him going. When Duncan was out last yr, he pick up his game mainly, because they involved him more. His number increased substaintuly across the board. And if I remember correctly we had a winning perc.
Kori,
With Duncan, the Heat and Pistons are both better teams.
Total lack of effort. This team has shown that so many times this year because they feel they have a switch they are going to kick on during the playoffs. Nothing is going to make them try any harder.
Tonight, everytime Horry went to the bench, he was laughing. Tonight, I saw Tony Parker laughing with Stephen Jackson. Tonight, I saw a total lack of focus from almost everyone who played on that court.
These guys just don't get it. This may be one of the best groups the Spurs have ever assembled talent wise, but it is also one of the softest.
I hate to go Pop with the use of the word soft, but there was so little desire out there tonight. I was getting more angry and frustrated than some players who were on the court.
You can use the Duncan excuse, but the fact is that with the talent the Spurs have, they should be much more competative during these games!
Some of it is definetly on Pop and his lack of an ability to motivate this team, as well as mack the proper adjustments. I can't count the number of halftimes in which the Spurs have come out flat, and that is a definite sign of a coach who's not making the correct adjustments at halftime.
I don't know what it's going to take to wake this team up. Perhaps they do have a switch they are going to flip on during the playoffs, but that's a really dangerous route to take. At this point, this team has shown me no where near the amount of mental toughness and heart that previous championship teams had.
Kori, I don't think it's such a crazy thought. Rasho is our STARTING CENTER. He averages something like 6 pts a game and 6.7 rebounds. That just can't cut it. Even Manu manages to average 4.8 rebounds per game. I know Rasho can't take the place of David Robinson, no one can. And though he is a good defender, when it comes to finals time against Wallace and Shaq, Rasho doesn't always bring it the way he should. There is only so much of the offensive burden that Tim, Tony, and Manu can carry. At some point Rasho needs to toughen up and get more consistent.
Mayne! Seeing the Spurs suck this hard in blow's !!!!! The Spurs are tired, can't you all see it?! I say rightfully so, they play in the hardest system in basketball night in and night out. Injuries and the gruesome everyday grind of an NBA season have gripped a firm hold on this year's Spurs squad. Obviously, with Tim, Devin and Manu out this season; Tony has repeatedly had to take charge of the team. (thus being considered an all-star amongst those who know ) Now this unusual exertion from Tony this season has drained him down the stretch run of the 2005 season, which explains the fact that he too is run down even though he didn't play Olympic ball like the rest of the trio. Now, on to our All-Stars TD and Manu; they have been playing basketball non-stop for at least two years straight ( i think; if not even longer.. especially TDizzle) considering the Olympics and training for it, the NBA season and playoffs, and training camp as well as the NBA regular seaon. These guys are worn the out. Purrr'd(aka. Period, to those non-ebonic readers). No if's and's or Luis Scola's about it. Speakin of... damn, how I wish we could bring him in right about now. Injuries are killing us but like Malik said, it's probably a blessing in disguise. I have to believe in that theory too because there are few optomistic viewpoints out there.
