Obamas take a walk, holding hands in the evening
    By Associated Press
    Sunday, May 3, 2009 - Added 3h ago

WASHINGTON — The first couple took full advantage of the cool spring night.

After a date night out on Saturday evening, President Barack Obama and first lady Mic e Obama decided to take a stroll when their motorcade arrived back at the White House.

So they began walking on the driveway of the White House South Lawn while holding hands. First they passed the West Wing, then their children’s swing set. They kept walking, swinging their hands together.

There were no Secret Service agents right behind them — the agents stood off, in one of the rare moments that the Obamas had private space outside the White House walls.

As the Obamas walked behind shrubbery and out of sight, the unscripted moment left reporters guessing where they were going. To the vegetable garden? The basketball court? No final word, but they eventually came back the same way from where they started, rounding out their 8-minute walk.

The walk wrapped up one of their first date nights in the District of Columbia since they’ve lived at the White House. Before arriving home and taking the stroll, the president and first lady dined out for nearly two hours at a posh Georgetown restaurant.

The stroll was a quiet contrast to their dinner outing. The Obamas’ visit to Georgetown attracted thick crowds of onlookers who were held back by police tape, while sirens occasionally wailed and a protester chanted outside the restaurant.

Redskins Coach Zorn Bike Rides With President Bush
Redskins head coach Jim Zorn accompanies President Bush on a bike ride
    WASHINGTON September 7, 2008 (AP)
    The Associated Press

The new head coach of the Washington Redskins is quickly making his way around town.

Jim Zorn spent a few hours biking with President Bush on Sunday morning at Fort Belvoir, Va., one of the commander in chief's favorite spots to ride.

Bush is an avid mountain bike rider who rarely misses opportunities for a weekend spin when he is staying at the White House. Zorn, a former player and coach for the Seattle Seahawks, has tackled expert bike trails during the summer at a Canadian ski resort.

"The president occasionally invites mountain bikers to join him for his vigorous rides," White House press secretary Dana Perino said. "He enjoys a good, compe ive ride, and everyone who's had a chance to ride with him says they are amongst the toughest rides around."

Bush bares soul with 'iPod One'
    By CNN's Peter Wilkinson
Wednesday, April 13, 2005 Posted: 9:31 AM EDT (1331 GMT)

(CNN) -- The music tastes of U.S. President George W. Bush have come under scrutiny after an aide revealed the playlist of his new iPod player.

The portable digital device, given to Bush by his daughters Jenna and Barbara last July, contains much country music, but also songs by Joni Mitc , Van Morrison and the Knack.

The MP3 player, which can store up to 10,000 songs, only contains about 250, according to the New York Times, which first reported the story.

"iPod One," as the player has been dubbed, is used by Bush while he pedals around his Texas ranch on a mountain bike, presidential media adviser Mark McKinnon told the newspaper.

This thread is made only lamer by the fact that it's almost certain that the op found out about it by reading Drudge. Or if not, certainly could have.

On second thought, I probably shouldn't have used the story about Bush's iPod as an example of fluffy human interest journalism...a lot of the board conservatives consider any story regarding Presidents and iPods to be really important, serious journalism.

The best part about it is that the source reporter is from the Washington Times.
