Is this like Paul Pressey's Brazilian love child?

Not even close to be a NBA player now and I'd be shocked if there aren't 60 prospects better than Paulão entering this draft. Can develop into a solid role-player for a marquee team in Europe. I'd like to see him in a better team next season.

Broke his knee yesterday. Horrific injury, gruesome view. Hopefully he can recover for the Worlds but I doubt it. Btw, De Colo is playing magnificently in this same game, it seems he can't miss a shot.

Yes, it was ugly to watch. He injured his ankle and not his knee. At the end of the game, he came back on the court on crutches to great fans and reports said that it's only an ankle sprain. It looks like he will be back relatively quickly.

And Nando was great. He scored 27 points without breaking a sweat. He is so smooth.

Yeps, it was just an ankle sprain. What a lucky bas , it looked much worse. Back in the draft conversation I guess, though I still doubt he gets his name called.

Interesting profile on Prestes by Jonathan Givony:

"Largely slipped below the radar of our draft coverage, there is little doubt after reviewing his game footage from this season that Paulao Prestes has much more to offer as an NBA prospect than we’ve given him credit for.

Prestes played his first season of basketball in the ACB this season, but he is already seeing major minutes. He has emerged as one of the most productive centers in Spain, in a league widely considered the best domestic compe ion in the world outside of the NBA.

His per-40 minute numbers are excellent. He’s averaging just under 15 points and 12 rebounds (which ranks him as the most prolific rebounder in the league at age 22) and converting 57% of his field goal attempts. By all accounts, Prestes’ productivity is phenomenal considering his lack of experience and the level of compe ion he’s playing at. "

Nice read. He could be a decent option for the second round if he is still there at 49.

Five potential sleepers in the draft
    By Jonathan Givony, DraftExpress.com

Paulao Prestes, C, CB Murcia (Spain)

Anytime you lead the best league in the world outside of the NBA (Spain's ACB) in rebounding per minute, people will take notice. If you can score in the post and convert a high percentage from the field, you have a highly coveted skill. And when you're 6-10 with a huge wingspan and a massive frame, and when you're playing only your first real season of high-level professional basketball, NBA teams will be intrigued.

That, in a nuts , is what the 22-year-old Brazilian offers. But those physical gifts and rebounding and inside-scoring ability haven't translated into any notable draft buzz, at least not publicly.

The reason for that is the fact that Prestes has been dealing with an ankle injury since early April; he hurt himself at a time of the year when NBA executives do a lot of scouting in Europe. He also hasn't played much in FIBA tournaments over the last few years for a country that features NBA centers Nene and Anderson Varejao and standout Euroleague big man and former Spurs first-round pick Tiago Splitter. He also played for a small ACB team this season, Murcia, which did not participate in any European compe ions.

NBA teams are concerned about Prestes' durability, as well as his below-average athleticism, which could hamper him on the defensive end. Nothing about his style of play is particularly aesthetically pleasing. And his current injury makes it difficult for teams to get a great read on him in private workouts, where important information is compiled -- including learning whether he's even interested in the NBA.

Prestes will likely fall between the cracks, but he could be an interesting player to draft in the second round, stash overseas and see how he develops over the next few years. If he continues to improve, he could become a useful frontcourt rotation player -- a commodity that is neither cheap nor easy to come by these days.

Could definitely see the Spurs taking this guy in the 2nd round and leave him in Europe for years to come
